A sexual health clinic leaks HIV info

A clinic in soho leaked info on their patients that got HIV and sent out the names and email addresses of 780 people when a newsletter was issued to clinic patients.

Patients were supposed to be blind-copied into the email but instead details were sent as a group email, so family and friends got it to and now some of them know they got HIV

Can we really trust such confidential info with clinics nowadays?

Whats your thought of their mistake?

My though?

A big fuck up. Lots of law suits.

I'd be furious. It probably amounts to a breach of contract and a breach of data protection.

Heads are going to roll.

Good grief!

I can't imagine the chaos that's going to create.

As if those people don't have enough to deal with.

I'm glad it wasn't me who sent the emails. Poor people.

Isn't it easy to mess things up at the click of a button these days?

Such an easy mistake to make - human error by the sound of it, with horrendous consequences. It should be investigated thoroughly, then policies and education put in place to secure this and other sensitive information more securely in future.

I, too, would be angry if my data had been released - that said, we all make mistakes soemtime, don't we?

Sounds like it was a newsletter, so maybe friends and family had signed up for it to get more information to help them to support those they knew with the condition? But I may have misunderstood
