What are you thinking when you hear the word "freedom"? What does freedom mean to you? (Not a political thread, just in general)

I agree with the above and I also like the idea that I can say what I like without fearing prosecution.

Yup... I speak my mind. Inappropriately sometimes but I'm not going to get put in prison and I generally manage not to be offensive.

Equally, I'm happy to pull people up for their outspoken stuff if I think they're wrong. Not sure how that works though since they too are entitled to free speech. I guess I don't have to agree with it.

I think so....and obviously the freedom to travel which I pretty much have anyway with an Irish passport.

A "go fuck yourself fund" essentially if ever needed.

What would I be missing?

I dont know if you would miss anything - I was just curious.

For me it would probably be a bit more than that and I would include freedom of my family, friends etc, my freedom of any illness or misfortune.... my freedom to do the work I enjoy (irrespective of money)...

They are more my like wishes on Aladdin's lamp.

Money is the great enabler...

Access to the best food, time to exercise and healthcare as needed = health

Access to education and other things to help family and friends as needed

Time to work on hobbies and interests = contentment & self actualisation

Never having to smile to myself and not laugh in their face when someone says "going forward" or "revert back to you" = Priceless

The greatest feeling of freedom I experienced was when I went away to college at 18. I was in charge of my own fate and had a great couple of years, I made the biggest mistakes I have made so far in my life but the fact that I had the freedom to make them was wonderfully liberating and has shaped my life.

I completely get that - I remember that sense of freedom and it felt as if nothing could stop me. Then I grew up
