I'm in the lucky, lucky position of possibly.going to Burning Man next year.

Who has been? Would you go again? Survival tips? Most importantly of all, what effect did it have on you?

But if you consider the cost of a big festival in this country...

That's about the price of a 14 day pass for Disneyland.

I'd rather be at Burning Man.

See you there then Prof. Cattle class flights about £450. I'm just trying to figure out the water, food and shelter thing.

Isn't food free? I thought it was a money-free festival.

I mean in exchange for services or other trades. Not just go and munch it for nothing.

It's money free, not food free unless someone's decides to share.

We went back in 2004... crazy shit. My favourite stuff was the weird sculptures out in the desert. I also remember a heavy metal band playing really loud noise with instruments throwing flames out left right and centre lol We stayed in a solar powered camp and it was all pretty back to basics stuff... lots of nudity and body painting... but that was pretty much us back in those days anyway lol. We're both old skool ravers so we've been to tonnes of these types of mad surreal parties out in weird and wild places. I once DJ'd underneath a massive intersection of freeways in SF... that kinda crazy shit. Whenever I pop back over we always hit the desert raves. Lovely bunch of people... most of which go to burning man. So I'm sure you'll love it

That's mental - I loathe almost everything you've so far espoused on this site and yet we have this amazing thing in common.

2004 was the first year I went.

Stayed with Hanumanville at 4:30 & Esplanade in a motorhome with with gay guy from LA called Danny, his friend Sean from NY, Sean's 'boys' and a Russian porn star.

Wow.

I guess a good seque on this thread is to say that I think it was in 2009 that I played a set of my music at the European equivalent of Burning Man down in Spain. It was a lot smaller and totally anarchic i.e. illegal lol There were orgies and swinging going on left right and centre... which is really what opened our eyes to the whole thing. Before then we'd just been sweet innocent naked hippies lol

It was also where I got one of my favourite compliments. This guy came up to me whilst I was playing out my tunes and said "I love this old retro shit man!" and then asked if I could play some tangerine dream, pink floyd, etc. When I explained that this was actually my own music he stumbled back, mouth open, and said "this is you?!? wow"... that one made my day
