"My friend did it in her sleep so had to get some mouth guard thing.. Guess you would look pretty daft wearing that in the day though " I have a mouth guard, somewhere! I tend to shove it in when I notice I'm doing it. Though, it stops me from talking and I imagine some would be grateful for that

"I do this, to the extent that I don't have visible canine teeth, have ground them down. I don't do it during the day but sometimes I wake up with jaw ache like I've been smiling for hours. x" Sounds like hell x

"Anyone else have this problem? I don't do it in my sleep but I do it during the day if I'm stressed or anxious. Trouble is I don't tend to notice I'm doing it until I end up with jaw ache at the end of the day... like tonight " Apparently so - I've ground down my canines over many years.

"Do you guys keep a gap between your teeth at all times? Unless I'm eating, I try to keep my teeth from touching. (I don't walk around with my mouth open though - unless a cocks near)." Funny you mention that... When I feel myself start I bite my tongue to stop it.

"Grind in my sleep, done it since I was a child. Got a mouth guard for night times which at least allows hubby to sleep hahahaha! Chewed a hole in it already. I also have a very clicky jaw on the RHS, and it can get locked out of place. Sometimes for hours (once for a day or so) - mostly after I've been SCUBA diving, but sometimes when I've been opening really wide , or clenching from stress or something. " If your jaw muscles start to lock press the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth then keep it there as you open your mouth as wide as you can. It's an exercise my dentist gave me and it does something to those muscles and can really help.

Also trying to strengthen the muscles on the opposite side (as it's apparently caused by a weakness on one side, causing the locking side to overwork). Put your fingers against the side of your jaw and try to PUSH against them.
