Off my mum's side I've got slimness, longevity and keeping my marbles for ever. However, I also get shit skin. However, I don't mind living till I'm 90 or so with all me faculties. I'll just buy shares in whoever makes E45 cream.

From my mum... Her bluntness & dry sense of humour, her youthful looks - no one believes she's in her mid 50s and that she's been smoking for 40 years - and probably the nice long skinny legs

I've been told that I have her eyes too. Maybe I should give them back.

Not from my mum but I've the being short and big hips from my grandma and great aunties, from my mum, good skin and younger looking, but my mum is far younger looking than me, I could knock 5 years of she could knock at least 10 off.

Also as I've lost weight people are saying I look like my mum this has never never been known.

From my dads side unfortunately the temper although mines gotten better as I've got older but I was often referred to as having the ****** temper.

The only good thing I inherited from my sperm donor is my (olive) skin complexion - I tan really well and have never burned in my life.

From my amazing Mother, on the other hand:

- The ability to get knocked down multiple times and still come back like an unstoppable force.

- Seeing the good through all the shit life brings.

- Working hard for what you want/need without taking the easy way out.

- Doing what is right for you but not by fucking over the people that you love/people who love you.

I'm not sure they are qualities but on the genetic front I have smooth skin and my face from my mother but I didn't get her slim body. Instead I got my paternal grandmother's Weeble body and height.

I think I have inherited a genetic disposition to depression from both parents. Maybe my libido came down the line from my father. The lupus probably from my maternal genes.

I'm a survivor and that has a lot do with them, good and bad. I'm generous; as with a lot of very poor people my parents have always shared whatever they had with anyone who needed it.

I'll probably have the dementia that seems to strike early on my mother's side.

Being raise to see myself as a citizen of the world.

I love England and that I was born here, but have never identified as a citizen of the UK or as black or white or whatever.

Then strangely about 12 years ago I was asked to travel for business and I found, out there in the world, I just fit in.

I attribute it to my parents.

Although I get told a lot that I am very English!

I got my looks and body from my mum. Got my dads sense of humour and wellbeing. And the fact I can handle anything that come my way. And from my mums side I got my love of secret black lovers. And that goes back many generations

From my mum: A love of literature; love of gardening; cooking skills; peachy skin that tans easy; non-judgemental nature; beautiful,crystal blue eyes.

Nothing and im glad. My dad left when i was 3 and has never been back. My mum was an alcoholic and used to leave us alone for days. I vowed never to be like either of them and im glad im not. Not bitter about it im just a better person than they ever where.

Can be very pulled emotionally ... growing up in an alcoholic home, not inherited as such, but certainly because of the environment. This has impacted on my need not to be tied down and dislike of emotional dramas ...

My stubborness from my mum and dad. Skills from 'the underworld' on how not to be a part of the system. Physically i'm naturally muscly and excessively hairy like them both.

From my dad: aggressiveness (comes in handy sometimes when you live in dog rough areas), knowing not to warn people what you're up to and just spring it on them instead, also being spontaneous. Not giving a shit what others think. The ability to understand what abuse feels like and how to not make anyone else feel that way. I got his eyebrows (so i groom them).

My mum: patience, the ability to think and weigh stuff up before doing anything, critical thinking. A whole host of home skills. Dissociation.

I'm aware some traits contradict each other, they're used in different situations.

A bit hard to tell as me mam died 2 days before ma 7'th birthday and ma dad passed away when I was 21

But I would say:-

Me mam's eyes/eyesight, all ma dad's side were as blind as bats.
