This, according to The Sun, was the ratio of men to women on Ashley Madison. Apparently they could only find 31 genuine female profiles in the UK.

What do you folks estimate the ratio to be on here - have heard so many different estimates.

Please note this isn't a thinly veiled rant about me sending a million messages and getting no replies. Am on my third site and have seen the good and bad, having met a dozen women in a year on Amorix sites and next to nothing in 8 months on AFF.

Nope, none of them find time to do anything more than read their 22,500 e-mails, lol.

I think your maths is a bit out. If there was 35 million users, then 22,500 to 1 would still give you about 1300 ladies.

Also, every different report has different figures on it. Call me a cynic, but personally I find it hard to believe that 35 million blokes would be paying £60 a month with no reward.

Obviously there's a lot of fake profiles on there, but there must have been some reward or they'd never have got so many customers.

That was 35 million world wide, the sun article was specific to the UK's 700,000 male users.

Though you're right, if I read it in the sun, I probably should have checked their sums, lol.

Judging by the number of new profiles created, there's about twice as many men as couples, and twice as many couples as women, so you can guess the ratios of men to women are around 4:1. That's assuming no fakes or duplicates, etc.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

On that basis I'd like to apologise to the dozens of men whose share I've shagged!

I think all paysites lie about their user numbers. When a swinging site we were on turned into a paysite the user numbers (as reported on their homepage) jumped from just under 250k to over 1.25 million overnight.

Most sites lie about their members. No one wants to join a dating site where no one else is on it.

If I wanted to, I could create a site, with 950,000 members for about £100.

After a quick google of "dating profiles for sale", I found this.....

Buy 950 000 United Kingdom dating profiles $145.95

Total profiles: 951 800

Profiles of men: 605 194

Profiles of women: 346 606

Total photos: 1 244 734

Photos of men: 775 534

Photos of women: 469 200

I was looking for a work from home job for the summer and got sent one which was basically being paid to talk on websites like this one. (Though the actual website was not named and I in no way think it was FAB).

The job was to talk to men, sound positive like I was going to meet, but always be just unavailable at the time etc. with bonuses for the longer you could keep the guys hanging on presumably so they renew their subscription to said site.

I followed the process for as long as I could, hoping to get some idea of which websites this scummy job was applying to. But I couldn't get any details until I'd given them, all of my details and I wasn't going to be doing that.

It felt like the kind of thing that would spring up and then be renamed a few months later!
