I had a conversation today about full stops inside and outside of brackets.

Don't know what one is, all these grammar threads make me laugh, all I'm interested in is that I can understand what people are saying which does rule out text speak.

And as far as I'm aware I've never been turned down for my grammar or spelling.

"I had a conversation today about full stops inside and outside of brackets. "

I was taught that all punctuation goes inside the brackets.

I might have slightly made them up. Just a little bit.

Depends on the punctuation I think.

A ! could be used inside the bracket followed by a full stop outside the bracket to end the sentence.

I sometimes wonder how I got my English qualifications now, I don't even remember learning anything about grammar and I passed a qualification to teach basic English to prisoners.

Only if the full stop within the brackets completes a seperate sentence within the brackets.

For example.

If brackets are used within a sentence then the full stop should come outside of the second bracket. (If the whole sentence is within the bracket, then it should remain inside.)
