Then come home and help him fix the bits he's fucked up.

And it's perfectly acceptable to have bits left over. And use glue! Makes all the difference.

We work together on it. First time we did it I warned Mr that this is the thing couples fight about. I laid out all the pieces and we checked them ... he is very handy though, and does all the jobs around the house. Whereas I am totally useless at anything like that and do all the paperwork and bills. He is intent on showing me how to do these things ... I do keep trying to escape but have become a dab hand with the drill and at corking ...

Grit your teeth and feel proud once it's done, we had 2 triple flat pack wardrobes without instructions and shockingly we didn't kill each other haha

Check you have all the parts. Lay them out in order. One of you is on instructions and handing out the next bit while the other assembles. Then stand by for the 'no, hold that bit steady or I can't get the screw in for fuck's sake!' type moments. Have cake ready for afterwards and all will be forgiven.

I've never understood the stress and confusion that comes with flat pack.

The biggest problem I've found is that you need three times the volume of the furniture available as free space in which to maneuver.

Don't give the mrs the screwdriver, chances are she'll think it's a colouring chalk. Get her in her rightful place (kitchen) where it can make a nice brew whilst you sort the job.

With my ex, I ended up kicking him out because he was fucking useless and made the job 10x harder for ME (basically sat on the floor and wanted me to lower the sections onto him so he could sit in one place on his fat arse while using a power drill to screw the bits in). And the lazy cunt wanted a break after 5mins!

Nope, built 3 triple wardrobes on my own. - Helps if you're good at yoga and being a contortionist.

Take out the bed in the room you intend to put them as you'll need plenty of floor space to put them together. It'll also be easier to move them into position

If they're tall and from ikea?

Make sure your ceiling is high enough before assembling to save you having to chop several inches off the base.

Yep!

It's also worth remembering when buying flat pack furniture that comes in long, wide boxes that you've got to get it home somehow.

And that you drive a saloon.
