an event we have visited every year for the last 10 years, sadly due to the weather conditions the local council have cancelled it,totally understand the reasons..health and safety etc.and

to be honest over the last few years it had started to lose its attraction, too many stalls selling cheap tat and became very costly too, park n ride absolute rip off considering you park on a very muddy field and we got stuck on it last year.not good.anyways your views ,had it become too commercialised and less christmasy/traditional.???

I dont think closing Lincoln Christmas Market is any great loss, it was dire. Over priced, more rides than stalls and over the years went from a festive tradition where it was a joy to walk around to a commercial nightmare.

Might give the more rural markets a chance to shine instead of people just attending Lincoln because it is what they usually do.

There are so many alternatives to it. Okay maybe not in as pretty location, but then it is nicer to see lincoln when it is not jam packed with shoppers.

I am all for anything that gives the local community an opportunity to show people what they can offer.....gosh I almost got on my soap box then lol

SHEFFIELD

Weve been a few times but its not what we expected a bit more expensive & a lot more of Tatt than what we expected. Some of the stall holders will be hit financially, theres a lot of food goods etc to get rid of now, and we feel for them.

We like Lincoln & visit as & when we can. We do our Xmas shopping there too.

Thousands would have been making their way there for the Christmas Market, its a shame but you can see whay its been cancelled.

little house on the praire

When i used to go it was wonderful, completly traditional and at dusk everyone was carrying lanterns and drinking mulled wine, lovely experience.

I then heard that you could only go one way round the market and that it had changed dramatically which is a shame.

The traders that where going to lincoln can have places at the melton mowbray victorian market.

"when is meltons victorian market diamondsmiles?? x"

Its from 10 until 4 this sunday.

This is what it says

Thousands of people from across the country descend on Melton every year to enjoy a slice of Dickensian Britain. Every stall holder is in Victorian Dress while street urchins, stilt walkers, Punch and Judy, brass bands, morris dancers and many more entertain the crowds. Full festival market including gifts, crafts and fine local produce.

Signed

Karen chief of rutland and melton tourist board lol
