Why do we kiss??

Interesting little article (mainly for the fact most of us probably don't wonder why/how/when kissing started)

I wonder why Humans started this. Kissing seems to be widely regarded as very intimate, but as it has no use in the procreation side of things per se, it seems odd to rub eating orifices together as a show of affection.

What do you guys think - do you have any thoughts on this article or funny stories about kissing??

I found it interesting especially only 46% of cultures kiss romantically.

It's not something I've thought about in depth, for me I would say its a natural reaction to being intimate with someone, I know when I've done the "cold" sex thing in the past the last thing I wanted was to kiss them. But I don't think I could be intimate with someone without kissing. As I feel its natural, I'm surprised there is no evidence to say our ancestors kissed, its just something I naturally do, and think I'd do it if I'd never heard of kissing

I was under the impression it stems from prehistoric days when food was chewed then passed on to kids by kissing it into the mouth...then it was a natural progression

I love kissing!

I'm not keen on the idea of sniffing people instead but I quite like the caution shown by the male black widow!

Can't do without it, apparently it's an erogenous zone, sounds about right to me.

I love kissing as it gets the temperature right for whats to follow.

I could never be intimate without kissing - in fact i prefer a lot of kissing to the actual sex act
