Hmmm... First to the statue of liberty, then for lunch in central park (hot dogs, of course). Then I'd take you on the subway over to the Brooklyn Bridge. After walking across, we'd get pizza and ice cream in Brooklyn.

Then maybe finish off with some fun, if you're up for it

My home town? Haven't a clue, most of what I remember from it has been torn down since I left.

Southend? Well, we'd go for a walk along the pier, play in the arcades, Chinnery's for some live music and good old fashioned snogging in the corner. And then maybe a trip to the hotel just up the road that has a jacuzzi bath??

How old are your kids? There's loads on for kids too. Sign up to Edinburgh Fringe and they'll send you a brochure of all the shows when it comes out. I think there are guidelines as to what's suitable in the same way films are labelled for ages. It's a great time to visit the city, especially if you have family to stay with.

Camera Obscura is worth a visit. If you go onto the Edinburgh Spotlight page on bookface they sometimes have competitions. Historic Scotland are the same. You can get a family membership for peanuts and it lets you into the castle etc for free. I'm not sure if you need to sign up for any length of time so worth checking the small print but you could sign up to that a month before you come up and then cancel it after if you're not coming back that often. It's good value though.

little house on the praire

I live in a very small market town, my friend from a city calls it a hamlet but there is interesting places here to see just for a day, tom thumbs cottage, all the horseshoes in the non existent castle.

We do have bus trips come here but what they do is go to Rutland water in the morning, stop here for lunch then gates nursery in the afternoon. Both 4 miles either side of me.

I live in the market town of the smallest county in England as as its so small I'd probably take you round the county rather than just the town.

I'd take you all for coffee in Gunwharf to start off, followed by a trip to the Mary Roses museum before heading to the beach to skin stones and perhaps visit the miniature village or the aquarium.

After we'll double back and get something, maybe even an ice cream at sprinkles. A trip up the spinnaker tower is a must and we could probably go dogging up Portsdown Hill when it gets dark if you're that way inclined (I'm not a great fan of it but I'm an accommodating host)

Durham cathedral. A coffee shop then down by the river to go on a rowing boat.

I live on the Chester/N Wales border. 20 mins into the city centre, which is beautiful or 20 mins into the countryside.

Definitely prefer the countryside, peace and quiet and secluded areas...

"Where would you take me?"

if your coming next week I'd take you for a bicycle ride upto blyth to watch a stage of the tour of Britain finish, then cycle upto Prudhoe where we can camp overnight and watch the start of the next stage start

Not into the town itself.

There's nice places around here but only when the kids are back at school.

Midway between Preston and Blackpool - so either the iconic Bus Station or the Pleasure Beach
