Middle Lane Drivers stuck out there at 65-70 mph passing NOTHING?! So annoying or what... dumb bunch of Air Heads!!! lol

What do you do to shift them... I think my next car should have a rocket launcher option... Blast them out the way... over time the roads will become less congested?

Well i was going to say similiar that although i dont drive im sure the speed limit is 70 and especially in this weather. Glad i dont drive with some people on the roads

I usualy give them a blast on the Horn and give them the finger!

A couple of years ago I had to follow an ambulance taking my Mum to hospital in London. It was a Sunday morning and the M3 was empty north of the M25. Making good time and travelling at a sensible speed for the conditions, yes it was over the speed limit but I did have the vehicle for the task. Travelling in lane one, I came across a car travelling in lane two. I indicated, turned my headlamps on and blew my horn as I moved across to lane 3 and moved back into lane one after passing the car and indicating properly. I was looked at if I was mad and the car was still there when it dissappeared from sight!

There is nothing worse than someone in the middle doing 50 and not even overtaking trucks in the inside lane....yes you can overtake in the outside lane, but they shouldn't be driving like that in the first place.

Read the highway code... You use the inside lane... Lanes 2 & 3 are for overtaking... So your one of those that forces the whole of the motorway to pass you in lane 3 causing a bottle neck behind and forcing all the traffic to be just a barrier away from the traffic coming from the other direction!! If people drive in lane 1 like they should do there would be 4 lanes of distance...

And I had one mate that use to annoy me with his lane 2 driving... I asked him why don't you move over? His reply was... If I have a tyre blow out... (okay?) I've got a lane either side to bring my car under control?! Bloody idiot!! Well the hard shoulder is a lane isn't and you'd then have 2 lane before you crash into the barrier... and the on coming traffic on the other side?

And I agree it so amuses me... the looks you get when you politely gesture that perhaps they should do the snails pace in lane 1 as a stream of horn beeping cars try to pass them... It that blank "what?" look that gets me... Even better if they start mouthing at you and waving a fist?! and the wife start nagging them too and the dog is howling in the back... I just piss my laughing then...

So maybe I should retract this thread or re title it? Do middle lane drives entertain and amuse you? lol

I do 650000 miles a year and road users nowadays really have no idea how to drive on a motorway or to actually manoeuvre round a bloody roundabout ffs lol.

It does amaze me that people hog the middle lane still. but having said that cars in the so called fast lane most of the drivers there don't have a clue.

I could gon but I am driving and using my phone to send this !!!!!!

Agree it's a good method too.. Made even better if you match the speed of the car in Lane 3 at the same time... That normally sends them back out the way... Daft thing is that you can get into trouble with law for doing it... Unlike the muppet in the middle lane? That's caused the issue to start with...

Strongly feel there should be a minimum speed limit on the motorways... and increase the limit too... should be 80 anyway... As the old bill ignore those doing 80 or they'd have to issue tickets to the whole motorway anyway... lol

Could perhaps dual limits for wet and dry weather conditions like abroad?

The company tried to give me a new van (Astravan) restricted to 68mph and I told them in no uncertain terms that they are unsafe for the very reason you state above - other road users don't know it's restricted and sit up your arse annoyed at you for not going faster.

I'm the only employee with an unrestricted vehicle as I told them I'd go back to being a contractor if they forced the issue. Although I concede that when the lease on the one I have now runs out next year they'll replace it with a restricted van. But it won't be me driving it.

I wouldn't suggest I'm innocent for doing it, I just feel it acts as a good prompt and usually they'll always pull in - that way I don't have to shout abuse or stick my finger up like a bloody hooligan.

if somebody is doing 65-70 mph.nothing should be passing them.i would say,most fatal accidents,are caused by speeding drivers.so if your speeding in this weather,and your looking for dumb,air heads lol.try the mirror.

rule 1 - observe the highway code (covers middle lane driving)

rule 2 - observe speed limit

in my experience most middle lane drivers do drive at approx 60-65......and most in the 3rd lane are zooming along at 75-85

The simple fact, as per the Highway Code, is that lanes 2, 3, etc etc are overtaking lanes, end of story!

So if you're in an outer lane when there's nothing in lane 1 to overtake, then you're simply an ignorant pillock!

I can go around.

Yes some are like that im afraid, i only cruise in the middle lane if i am overtaking or there is loads of traffic on the inside lane and i cant get to it, or i move to allow people from a slip road onto the motorway. If i can, i move to the inside lane, rarely do i go into the outside lane unless ive little option or its the lane i need to be in for where i am going

i travel the m6 everyday for 50 miles each way so see it everyday. Just flash ur headlights at them and they move over or overtake them and beep whilst passing that usually works. The worst i have been behind was doing 45 mph in the middle lane on a completly empty m6. as i drove along side them i saw she was texting so i beeped her face was a picture lol

sorry you need to check your facts, very few accidents are caused by speed, most are by people who like the op said cant drive/dont know the rules of the road.

Within a few seconds of joining a motorway I move over to the fast lane and pretty much stay there unless an emergency comes up behind me. I couldn't give a flying fart who gets pissed off at me for doing this as I'm usually travelling at 80mph anyway so I'm already above the speed limit and if another car wants to go faster then he can friggin well go round me.

In fact, I'm more likely to reduce my speed to 70 if someone flashes me, thus pissing them off even more.

And all this talk about everyone remaining in Lane 1 unless they are overtaking... try driving on the M25 anytime between 6am and 7pm and you'll see very quickly how impractical that rule really is.

And this is a fine example of how not to do it. That's how accidents happen.

I think the problem is some people dont know how to drive on motorways or duel carriageways, as it wasn't part of the driving test.....

Im always on the roads, and generally my blood boils with some of the fuckwits I see... but I've learnt to just let it wash over me, as truck rage is a foooker lol... and whats with ppl using fog lights when visibilty if fine!!!

I drive thousands of miles per year and I've been doing that for 20 years... and I've never had an accident.

You judge without knowing anything at all. Did not occur to ask me why I drive the way I do?

The fast lane is the safest place to be because of the tossers and arseholes that drive at inconsistent speeds in lanes 1 & 2, undertake in the slow lane and generally haven't got a fookin clue how to drive on a motorway.

I do about 35000 miles a year and I can tell you that you are wrong. It is an urban myth by jealous people! I drive an old X-type for work and the worst offenders are Audi A3 drivers and Focus/Mondeo drivers!

If there isn't a car within half a mile in front of them then one can assume it's 3am and there's little or no traffic on the road, so it shouldn't make any difference what lane they're in - except to a lazy arse driver who can't be bothered to go round them.

sorry have to dissagre most crashes on the motorway are dickheads in the fast lane tail gating having to brake hard when the car in front slows, causing a ripple effect causing conjestion furtherback and at worst crashes

use the M40 from J1 to J4 each evening; 4 lanes all the way to J3 and the outside 2 lanes usually clogged up whilst the inner 2 are free ... all bcoz peeps think its cool to be in an outside lane ...

also often see (on any motorway) peeps join at a junction and no matter what level of traffic they pull straight out into the middle lane ... why???????????????

How very fascinating, you think that makes you sound clever? I drive a brand new, quite high spec car and it's usually middle aged, little guys in vans or rovers who like to drive slowly in front of me. I don't mind, I relax and let them get on with it, if they're that sad then who am I to spoil their little bits of fun?

You have no control over the vehicles or driving habits of other motorists.

So surely it is important to be the best driver YOU can be, and act accordingly....rather than worry all the time and get frustrated about others??????

as a biker I have some tremendously fun options, my favourite goes like this ....

1. tailgate them to see if they pull over - or are at the least paying the blindest bit of attention to their rear _iew mirror - if not then the fun begins .......

2. back off about 50 metres then accelerate hard towards them, swing left close to them and then straighten up pass them on the inside close enough to give the nearside wing mirror a flick with my right hand.

3. at this point hit the engine kill switch with my left hand - put my right back on the throttle and pump the carbs full of fuel

4. swing back in front of the car dangerously close to the front bumper - straighten up - re-engage the engine switch - pop the clutch - hit the throttle.

5. piss myself laughing as the deafening crack and flames shooting out of my exhaust mere feet from their windscreen (inches if I get it just right) wake the moribund middle laner from their torpor.

I know full well where the safest place on a motorway is as I used to drive for the Post Office many moons ago in wagons that would slow, heavy and unable to go above 68mph, and you would not believe how many car drivers think it's ok to pull in front of me to get to a slip road completely oblivious that I'd need 350 feet to stop safely in an emergency. I have a deepfelt respect for HGVs as I know full well what they have to put up with, and my driving habits have been learned over a long time on the roads - the fast lane is the safest lane, but then I always leave a reasonable gap between me and the car in front, until some fookin BMW driving wanker decides it's a great place to park his stupid fookin car.

i have a class one hgv and often drive race car trucks very long trips, and still think you need a driving lesson or two.

and whoever it was dont mock rovers i have one and i used to be a race driver instructor, why do i have one?

i can park it anywhere and its still there when i get back.

plus its a good hack for long trips goes fast enough for the roads in the uk, lets face it a quick car is wasted on amotorway as speeds never go above 100 and most cars yes even my old rover will do that, plus it saves me putting miles on my sports car

I think carrying a car home when it's broken is very macho, you couldn't do that with any other make y'know.

Its the pail beige paintwork and the chocolate brown and orange pin stripes that makes me love it. That and the carry handle at the back when i breaks down.

Finally read all this thread.

Amazes me that people can say whats the issue with middle lane morons..and they really are..

I have spent many a time cruising up in lane 1... and coming along a car that is in the middle lane doing anything from 55 up.... but its still less than everything else on the roads is travelling at... you then have to pull from your lane, move over two lanes pass the afore mentioned dipshit and then go back across two lanes to get back.

When I was in the scooby I would loudly dump the dumpvalve when going past and the amount of people that wouldnt even have noticed me till that moment were amazing. Now as I have 10 years now accident and points free.. I would consider myself a reasonable driver..( not perfect) but it bugs me..

When doing hours and hours, it starts to get rather tiresome.

If on a bike I just nip past and swing back as close as is safe to do so..

The attitude to bikers in this thread is awful, but the sort that as a biker you get used to. I treat most car drivers as idiots as been knocked off my bike twice, both by idiots who claimed not to have seen me. How the hell do you not see a someone in bright bloody leathers. and the headlight on.

THIS IS A LONG ONE BUT MAY BE WORTH READING.

About four years ago near dumfries travelling south towards carlisle on M74 motorway a lorry driver moved into lane two to overtake another lorry. The BMW behind the overtaking lorry went into lane 3 to overtake both lorries. I went into lane 3 also. Everything is ok so far.

After the bmw driver overtook the lorry in lane 2 he wouldnt move over and kept slowing to 65mph. I flashed a few times. Went into lane 2, flashed lights again. Still wouldnt budge. I would not undertake as that is against the law for a very good reason - a drivers biggest blind spot is over their left shoulder. While doing all this i was also checking my safe driving distance between the bmw driver and i. It was safe. This continued for about two miles when suddenly a police motorbike appears in my rear _iew mirror with the rider pointing to the left with his thumb as if to tell me to move into the middle lane which i did. He then while passing me pointed at my drivers door mirror as if to say check your mirrors. i gave him the thumbs up. He then powered up to behind the bmw driver who was completely oblivious to him being there until the police motorcyclist had to undertake him then back in front of the bmw driver with his blue lights flashing. The bmw driver then pulled over towards the hard shoulder then i was also told to pull over which i did. The policeman then told both of us to drive into Abington services (2miles). I was thinking what the f**k was i doing wrong. Oh sh**e. Maybe he clocked me doing ***mph earlier.

Much to my surprise he was simply checking that i was ok and asking for how long i was sitting behind bmw and advised me to also check my mirrors more as he was sitting on my tail for a little while but understood i was distracted by the bmw driver and acknowledged that i had plenty opportunity to undertake but didnt take opportunity which is illegal. Phew, so glad i knew that. The bmw driver got 3points and fine for either driving without due care and attention or careless driving. Driver kicked off saying i was bullying him on the road as i was speeding and flashing my lights at him. The policeman would not have any of it stating he witnessed my driving whilst static on roadside (though i didnt see him) and for last one mile of our driving and i didnt do anything wrong. I simply tried to get his attention politely without over flashing my lights. He then advised the bmw driver that it was in his best interests to keep quiet as he had rweally just stated that he was driving dangerously rather than carelessly - which is worse in the eyes of the road traffic law.

Can i please make clear that i am no angel when driving i.e. ***mph.

What im stating though is that wishynsiren posts are appalling and that _iews on drivers of particular makes of cars are inaccurate and unfounded. I think Focus drivers are awful. But i understand there are alot of Ford Focus cars sold in the UK and Ireland and they are reasonably priced. I your driving in lane 2 at no matter what speed then move ovefr when safe to do so because a driver behind cannot overtake you until its safe for he/she to overtake using lane3. Like the motorway signs say, "Frustration causes accidents. Allow for overtaking".

well i do both and there is little difference between the types of transport. Its more to do with the prick controlling the throttle/accelerator.

oh I read it and have removed two peoples wing mirrors at least while riding.. both justified as far as I am concerned..Both were after the drivers had pretty much hit the bike I was on.. one I was pillion and the other they changed lanes without checking their blindspot and whacked my knee and I kicked out.

I have seen drivers do petty things to bikers a lot though... Like the idiot that think its funny to make a gap between two lanes impossible for the bikers filtering through to get through... Most dont seem to realise that it is perfectly LEGAL for a biker to filter in slow moving traffic. Or that Bikers can use the hatched markings to over take on as long as due care and attention is used ( ie no going over when there is a right hand turn ahead.)

Yes slapping there mirror may not of been the best idea, but to be fair how you can sneak up on someone to do that is beyond me as they should have seen you coming and most bikes are loud enough to hear a mile off..( well the decent ones are)

the highway code says you may pass on the left if the traffic in that lane is moving faster.

if the left lane is clear and you decide to enter it from the right - and then pass the car from the inside - provided you do not exceed the speed limit - you have made a perfectly legal passing maneuver.

Not talking about weaving talking about filtering.. Ie going through the gap between two lanes.. that is perfectly allowable..

And excuse me but the car thats wing mirrors got kicked off hit me because they did not look.. I kicked out to let them know I was there.. they were lucky it was just the wing mirror..

How is that immature.. The 2nd one it was done going through traffic.. I was on the back.. some twat decided he was going to block our way so moved over..we got through but the rider forget that my knees stuck out further and he bashed my knee on the idiots mirror.. We stopped and in the end the police were called.. The driver was told that he could be done for not driving with due care and attention and dangerous driving.. because he addmited moving over to block the bikes.

So tell me now.. who is more unreasonable.

It also says you should leave a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front. When traffic is slow in one lane weaving between traffic means your not doing this. But it is a grey area and i have seen the police let it go at times and other times pull the rider for a dangerous manoeuvre.

it seems the point has been proven by public vote, lane hoggers are the cause of many situations what ever the lane, we arent all perfect drivers there isnt such a thing, trust me i know ive worked with some of the best race drivers in the world, so can spot a good driver or bad from a mile, the thing isnt about driving skill its about observing the rules of the road

To condone taking someone's win mirror off is quite simply childish and you really should know better no matter what he did. Your story seems to be metamorphosing to invoke sympathy. Sorry but it is never acceptable to think its justified to cause damage while on the road.

but i ride something with the maneuverability of a ferarri and the power to weight of an aston - and its not even that great a bike

I can do things that appear to be insanely reckless to someone who has never been outside a steel box but are safe as houses to a biker of the most basic competence

Dont really care what you think.. but the fact is that the police agreed with us.. I have also had a wing mirror on one of my cars knocked off by an impatient driver not realising that he couldnt get his car through the gap. ( it was my right of way btw)

At £100 for a new one I swung my car around and got his details.

The amount of times I have had someone nearly knock me off or drive into me for that matter for not looking, or being on a phone ( that is a real pet hate) Really seriously, drive or ride like the whole world is out to get you and you may get somewhere.

I am a bitch on a bike.. but it keeps me alive and shiny side up.

TO many people are quick to blame the bikers when MCN proved a few years ago that over half the bike accidents were not the bikers faults. They sat a local black spot for bikers and videod cars going around in the middle of these corners.. all at the point a biker safely negociating that corner would be.. so any on coming bike would be met with a car that was right on their line for the corner. And result in a head on crash with a biker leaned over.

Even the police at the time were interested in their results as they were happy to admit that most of the time if attending an accident on that road they were already in the mind the biker was at fault.. as rarely does the biker get a chance to give his or her side of the story. Yes speed may have been there.. but if the car had been on the right side of the road it wouldnt have happened.

I know there are a lot of idiot bikers, but there are a lot of idiot car drivers too.

lol this is seriously not me throwing my toys out the pram.. this is me having a discussion.

Not asking you to agree with me, just telling how it is.

The fact is that in the case with me knocking there wing mirrors off you are missing the point that while yes the first one I kicked out, it was not my intention to knock or do any damage but mearly keeping myself in one piece because the muppet had not looked when moving across a lane.

So how was that my fault...

2nd time the guy thought he would be clever, and ended up having to pay us, as I had a rather smashed knee.. again was an accident and I ask you to try having a wing mirror hit your knee hard enough to knock the mirror off.. ( actually does not take that much force but it doesnt half hurt)

If I had gone back to his car and kicked his mirror off I could understand your attitude.. but I didnt.. he was a prick got warned by the police he called about his behaviour.

Can give you the accident reference numbers if you would like to go look it up.

I can be agressive when I drive, but thats because I am certainly not likely to win any race on the track without doing so..

On the roads I have never had an accident except people hitting me, and never had even a point. Reason being on the roads there are to many idiots to not drive like you have eyes in your arse.

I love speed, but tend to keep it mostly for the track.

As for the last word. I am female and its my god given right ( unless Master tells me otherwise)

But bikers are fair game. In days of old they'd have been the stag that the lords went out a'hunting for. We can't do that now, cos crossbows are illegal, so the next best thing is biker hunting on the M6.

So there i was doing 70 in the middle lane of the m18 overtaking a line of lorries cars doing 75-80 passing me in outside lane,vectra bombs up behind me he can,t get into outside lane so he underpasses me whips into gap not much bigger than his car but because i ve left a gap in front of me pulls out causeing me too brake hard he s blowing his horn and giving me the rod like its my fault best thing i caught up with him 2 miles down the road at next turn off and passed him hw e was stuck in slow lane behind wagons.Just looked at him and laughed,how much time did he save,how many others did he piss off,i wonder,undertaking,not big not clever,not funny.

i had been driving for years but never did motorways, only the ordinary roads for shoppin or visiting etc. couple of years ago i got to use motorways for the first time and stayed in the middle lane feeling safer. then i noticed the electronic sign above me saying "stop hoggin the middle lane" i thought the motor way police were watching me and pulled into the slower lane. wasnt till abit later on my journey i noticed the same sign and realised it was just a standard thing they put.....ooophs!!!!

must admit now I am better on the motorway and dont hog the middle lane, I just ram up the arses of anyone who doesnt move quick enough in the fast lane lol

I am amazed to read some of what people have said on here. I think there are many conrtibuting factors to crashes and problems on the motorways. Bad driving is around so much and in different ways.

I am amazed to see poster/s saying they will sit in the outside lane and basically stuff everyone else!

What would happen if everyone would be as inconsiderate as that person. We would have loads of inconsiderate people sat in the outside lane and no one would be able to get past.

I try to be as considerate and careful as I can when on motorways as am not a regular driver on them as we have to drive for ages to get anywhere near motorways in Norfolk. Am truely shocked about the people admitting to not giving a toss. Maybe they dont give a toss about their families too, as they are at some point going to cause a crash due to being inconsidarate to other drivers when we all know they are not the only people on the roads so being considerate is an essential part of everyday driving.

Remind me never to get in the car with these people or being on the same motorway with these people

There is also a common sense unwritten rule of the road that basically says, "move with the flow" - in layman's terms, it means travel at a speed that in consideration of other vehicles and use the road wisely. Someone doing 40mph in the slow lane is going to wreak more havoc with cars zipping out and in to get past the slower vehicle than someone sitting in the middle lane trying to stay out of the way of said slow-coaches (pun intended). Additionally, sitting in the middle lane allows one to see what's up ahead and many times I've witnessed a slow driver coming up to a junction and cars hurtling down the slip road to join the carriageway only to find that the moment they begin to join there is a very slow moving vehicle barring their entrance and they have to slam on their brakes. Slow drivers in fast moving traffic cause more problems than any other, but obviously, I'm not discounting wreckless drivers who travel in excess of 100mph - who also have the same effect on other drivers trying to use the fast lane to overtake.

Show me anyone who follows the Highway Code to the absolute letter and I'll call that person a liar to their face.

Safe stopping distances for 30, 50, 70mph?

I'd wage 95% of motorists can't tell you what they are without consulting said book. I'd wage even further that 100% of motorists do NOT apply those safe stopping distances EVERY TIME they need to stop safely.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

The Highway Code is a guide to what you SHOULD be doing on the roads, but there is also a practicle side to driving that one only learns after time spent on the roads of Britain, and that 'code' isn't in the Good Book.

thats what makes it so frustrating when you come across a lane hogger, i did see on the m6 the other day a police car with a keep left unless overtaking sign in the back window

There is a common sense written rule called the Highway Code...I'd consider following that to be the epitome of "using the road wisely".

Show me anyone who follows the Highway Code to the absolute letter and I'll call that person a liar to their face.

Safe stopping distances for 30, 50, 70mph?

Do you see where I'm going with this?

From memory, 30 miles and hour, thinking time= 45, stopping time= 70

40 miles an hour 125= thinking, 175=stopping

60 miles an hour,thinking = 275, stopping time= 315

I learnt this for my test as a rhyme.

30 45 70

40 125, 175

60,275,315.

Dontremember if that is the distance it takes to thibk about braking and then the actual stopping distance in metres or feet. For the life of me I cant remember.

Yup. I've done my probationary time of not going in the fast lane and that ended a few weeks after I passed my test (we didn't take motorway tests in those days). I quickly learned that sitting in the middle lane I was assailed from both sides by people overtaking slow drivers from the slow lane and other people being tooted out of the way by dickheads in the fast lane who wanted to see how fast their new 5 series could go. Middle lane hoggers have all this to contend with so I decided the safest place to be was in the fast lane and as I haven't had an accident in 25 years of driving - I must be doing something right.

So by admission your one of the d**kheads now that sit in the outside lane now. My neighbour has been driving for year and year and years and is very old now but he has also never had an accident by his own admission like you. He thinks he is a good safe driver as will often say "I have been driving for.... years and never had an accident" pretty much like you. But what he doesnt realise is that I have seen him drive,he cant hear the biting point and drives so slow on a 60 mph road that he is a nuisance to others.

Just seems to be your doing the oppsoite by sitting in the outside lane and stuff everyone else(therfore thinking of yourself and not anyone else on the road)doing excess speed I assume as in my experience those in the fast lane not letting anyone go past them are doing considerably well over the legal limit. So being proud of the fact that you(and he)havent had an accident does not show you to be a safe driver at all.

The safe drivers are the ones being considerate to others,following the highway code(speed limits including),and being aware of other road users,all of which it doesnt sound like your doing. Sorry but I wouldnt brag about it if I showed such lack of consideration to everyone else on the road.

To those sat in the outside lane refusing to move for anyone elese(sod em attitude)then your actions will at some point cause an accident.

You may not hit another car for a while but your driving will cause others to do something stupid as they cant get pass you or for whatever reason. Excessive speed is a killer. The outside lane speed is pretty high in general so your ability to stop safely when you meet another idiot hogging that lane is not great.

Really tho, bragging about not having an accident and showing major signs of not giving a monkeys about any others driving on the roads! I would sit in the corner and not mention it really.

Ps, I am generally a good driver and careful in the snow. I have had another ejiot not be able to stop on a back road crash into my car. I stopped as wasnt going stupid speeds but he didnt give a toss and wasnt able to stop in time and slid into my car.

I am no angel at all but dont brag about being an inconsiderate driver.

You assume that I actually give a toss about people I've never met, never will, and couldn't care less if I do or not.

When I'm on the road it's all about ME - getting from A to B as quickly as possible. I don't travel at 100mph, mainly because my vehicle has a tracker on it and they'd know, but even in my own car I tend to keep it between 80-85mph, and that's fast enough. If someone wants to go faster and they are behind me, well, tough, cos I couldn't give a shit if they go round me or not. If they do pass me they usually roar up the road a few hundred feet and then go through it all again with another unsuspecting driver. If they don't they can sit there until I decide to move.

Am I selfish driver?

You betcha.

Why should I give a damn about someone who has come up behind me, at speed, and then sat on my bumper flashing their lights at me? The answer is: I don't.

So you clearly dont give a monkeys.

What happens if your parents or siblings,cousins,best friend and maybe your good friends on here are in a car wanting to get past you as they are rushing to get to a hospital for example. Do you still not give a toss that they may have to either sit behind you and possibly sit up your jacksey or flash or even undertake to get oast you as you may be blocking the road.

Do you still not give a monkeys if its someone you love/are about and you are going to cause an accident. Is it atill about you or do the rules suddenly change and its all about you but then maybe if its someone you love then its about them too??

I have no idea how old you are but what if it is your kids driving in a car 2 cars back from you and the car infront of them makes a silly move to get past the ejiot blocking up the outside lane(thats you by the way)and that causes them to crash? Do you still not give a monkeys?

Actually I'm not, I just don't let them bother me as I have more going on in my life than whinging and moaning about those that drive selfishly.

I take the easy and some might say obvious option....I indicate and overtake them....you are allowed in the outside lane you know!

Then I move back in and go on my merry way.....what is there to gain by letting things like this bother you?

I never worry about something until I have a reason to worry about it. Too many people spend too much time worrying about something that may never happen and they let it guide their lives - often to their own detriment.

*IF* someone I care about is in an emergency then I'm pretty certain they wouldn't be haring down the fast lane of the motorway to seek assistance - that's what the emergency services are for dontcha know.

The reason I drive the way I do is because of past experience of selfish twats on the motorways not giving a shit about anyone else but themselves and over the years it has made me as selfish as they are.

I do give way to some drivers sometimes but usually it's only when I'm in the mood to but the whole crux of this debate is about giving way to someone who is already driving ABOVE THE SPEED LIMIT. If I was doing 60mph then I'd say they have good reason to be pissed off at me blocking their way but that's never the case as the only time I drive at that speed is when the road conditions dictate that I can't go any faster.

What also boils my piss is in contraflow/road works where the speed limit is 50 (with average speed limits cameras in use) and someone still wants to get past me. Those people will sit on my tail for the entire length of the contraflow as I will never give way to them.

It's not about bikers who "wanna sit" in a blind spot, it's about thick cunts in their Astravans who bowl down the sliproad, and then with a quick glance in their side mirror pull out in order to get to the outside lane as quickly as possible, moving their head is just oh so much of a chore.

The motorcyclist travelling along, perfectly legally and legitimately who has moved across to allow other vehicles to join the traffic, then may FIND HIMSELF in the blind spot, and possibly about to be swiped off his bike.

It's called a "Life-saver" check for a reason.

People who don't do a quick look over their shoulder before pulling out, EVERY TIME, should be taken to the side of the road and shot. People would make sure they carried out this basic safety precaution every time, and it really would be a life-saver, for all concerned.

Wishy I was meaning if a relative or fiend of yours is rushing to the hospital after hearing bad news and needs to get there desperately. Thats what I was referring to.

My dad had a major accident and fell through the garden shed and had to be airlifted to hospital eventually. When I leard I drove as fast as I could as safely as I could to my parents to see him. The old man sat infront of me was a tad surprised at me waving furiously to him to move or get out of my way. That is the kind of example I was referring to.

But to be honest I think the forum has an understanding of your driving "skills".

In all honesty, I've treated this thread as a bit of wind up really as it's so easy to really get under some people's skin (they'd argue with their shadow if they could), but what really amazes me is people saying things like, "my estimatation of you is going downhill rapidly," like it would really make a difference to my life.

Not just in motoring, but in all aspects of my life - if I don't know someone I don't give a monkey's about their opinion of me. I'm secure and confident enough in my own life not to need the emotional crutch of acceptance from people who, when it really boils down to it, don't really give a shit about me anyway.
