Is it really a cunning plan?

Anyone who votes AGAINST England being hosts will be suspect of being corrupt?

And so England get the votes?

hope we dont get it these sporting events cost the tax payer a hell of a lot more than monies made or temporary jobs created in an age when we are paying billions to europe to bail countries out when at home pensioners can,t afford to pay heating bills i think its a disgrace.

ok off me soapbox let the tirade of disagreement begin

Oddly I may be wrong but

while the Olympics always LOSE money

World Cups tend to MAKE money

and in the case of England since the stadia are already there and built

-we could put on the full world cup with a month's notice if we had to -that may be the case

We would not have to build new stadia or travel infrastructure, a world cup in England should be an income generator. When you refer to bailing other countries out I presume you mean Ireland? We will actally make money on the Ireland bail out, in business terms for us it's a good move. As for heating bills, lets hope the recent chatter about an investigation into the profiteering of the utilities has an effect. It would be fantastic to get the world cup. I think the BBC has damaged the bid, if we get it the bid team will have worked miracles.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Not certain, but I think our bid includes at least a couple of stadia that haven't been built yet.

Plymouth and Bristol from memory, possibly Nottingham too.

The Plymouth Sports Stadium is being built anyway, regardless of the World Cup. It is part of a new Athletics stadium, Football Stadium, Conference Centre and Music/Concert centre.
