Hmmm seeing this along on profiles of single females and males aswell as couples stating that no black or Asian men..due to personal preference I get that I do but why state it? Surely a thanks but no thanks is better, if you can't state things like that on a job description or the likes of, then im not so sure it has a place here, but that's just my opinion..please bear in mind I'm not saying in anyway shape or form that anyine who does state this is racist.. What I'm questioning is the need for this to be in place

It's down to personal preference and some people state it on their profiles as there isn't a filter for it and saves people wasting their time messaging.

I don't think it's racist... I understand why people have it on their profiles though, it stops them wasting their time with people who don't match what they're looking for.

It's a preference to try and filter the messages they receive.

Saying "I'm only interested in men, sorry women" doesn't make someone sexist as it's not oppressive. It isn't a right being denied, either.

I have said this before, and no doubt will say it again. How someone says something can make them sound racist .... I think people need to be aware of the implications of the language they use .... its not racist to have a preference, but to say it in a certain way can make you sound like you are.

I used to think it was but why would you want to shaggy someone your just not attracted too? In some profiles the wording can be harsh, and it reminds you of them signs in the 60's 70s No Black's, No Irish, No Dogs. Think you toughen up the longer your on fab.

It's racist if it makes some one feel bad!

So if I look at 100 profiles and 75 - 80 of those say no blacks.

Then the site will be perceived as borderline racist!

I look at a lot of profiles and there's loads that say no blacks!

And the explanation I normally get is "because I don't like dirty smelly cab drivers" errrrr ok!!!

I have had loads of racist stuff said to me on this site!

But people hide behind the umbrella of its to filter!! its to filter!!!

Hubby has a little bit of colour in him means sometimes we get turned down for meets but hey ho everyone has there own preferences

That sounds like a total exaggeration. I've been here several years and wouldn't say 75-80% of profiles want whites only.

I got called racist the other day for blocking someone who wanted 'bbc only'. It wasn't an act of racism, for me there is no point in being able to view and message someone who wouldn't be interested in me so I blocked her, as she'd stipulated that white men weren't her type.

I don't think you will fond the same type of language used though, to be fair ... oftentimes the 'no blacks, no Asians,' is stated in what seems to be a very forceful way (short sharp sentences and statements) whereas those with a preference for black men will add more of an explanation to it .. as they feel they have to justify themselves, whereas the no this, no that people don't feel such an explanation is needed. I think there are different types of reasons for people wanting certain types of people and this is reflected in how they use both terminology and word their sentences and choose their phrases ... indeed, choice of language gives a lot away about a person. I look at that carefully, so god help anyone who can talk the talk but not write it down where I am concerned .... just my tuppence worth

If you don't want black or Asian people mailing you does it not save everybodies time to just state that in the first place, rather than letting people go through the bother of reading all your profile, thinking they for what your after and taking the time to mail you just to receive back a sorry your not my type when they could have got to the no black or Asian people, stopped and moved onto the next profile

I do sometimes, well no often, get offended at some of these things because they are close to heart and things that have implications for those I love .... but, I am a card carrying member of the pc brigade, sorry for that

Everyone is offended by something though. It doesn't mean everyone is being discriminated against.

Loads of guys say no fat women. Some are rude in the way they say it, (salad dodgers for example). I accept I am not for them and don't message them. They're not being sizeist.

Men who only want to meet women are not being homophobic or sexist.

And when I don't want messages from Asian men, I'm not being racist.

Maybe it hurts their feelings. Nobody likes being rejected. But some of the white men I decline are hurt by being turned down too. Nobody suggests I am discriminating against the white men I turn down just because they are hurt about it.

Sex is not a human right. Deciding not to have sex with someone is not discrimination.

Challenging discrimination is good but only when it actually is discrimination.

Using it to try to pressure someone into giving you something that you have no right to, and that they don't want to give, is an insult to those who genuinely have experienced racism or another form of discrimination.

As an asian man I don't find it offensive stated as a preference.

We all have preferences and for me it stops me wasting my time and theirs.

To be honest I am more concerned about the reputation that asian men have with regards to their attitude to women,justifiably so in recent high profile cases and these cretins (the language I actually want to use to describe them is very offensive) make it difficult for ordinary people like myself.

If I was accepting messages I'd have on my profile white guys only, actually I'd have white guys with dark hair over 5'10 in height, extremely good looking and big cock and balls. I don't like ginger hair, don't particularly like blonde hair on guys. When choosing to have someone inside you it is purely down to attraction, it's not racially motivated. You don't have to state this sort of preference in any other area of your life because it doesn't matter if you work alongside someone you don't fancy or sit next to someone on a bus or talk to them, it doesn't matter then whether you find someone attractive or not.

I think it is kinda racist, because all you have to do is say no thanks, or ignore. If everyone puts no blacks on profile and you read that and you're are black, it will make feel degraded (hard to explain).

I think some things people should use discretion and be aware that people have feelings.

While reading the forums I do click on profiles to see the person who posted, not to contact them just to put a face to it. And yeah it does hurts, cause it like oops I shouldn't even look at their profile "whites only"

I am mixed race but I feel sorry for asian guys as they get it worse. Some things are best kept to ourselves, ignore what you don't like.

It's not rocket science and would eliminate the aggressive interpretation when people put it on their profile .

And if the option is there to not eliminate any colour / creed / race , that would make us happy too

So what you are saying is let people waste their time?

I let a guy think he matches what I'm looking for. He feels hopeful. He spends time writing a message. He waits for a reply. He either gets no reply or a brief no thanks.

Does he honestly feel better than if he'd known I'm not interested from the beginning?

Are false hope, wasted time, rejection and disappointment better than reading a polite note saying I'm not interested in hearing from (whoever), sorry?

I don't see it.

"If it's possible for the site to add a like feature for a meet ( possibly one of the most useless things ever ) then why can't they add a filter for race on preferences ?

How many people do you reckon would then "accidentally" fill in their skin colour wrongly like some manage to do with their date of birth?
