Cutting monthly bills

I was recently approached by the utility warehouse people. Historically I have been sceptical of them and that remains a little.

Anyway I have worked out you can cut a lot of cost already through following Money saving expert etc. However the one area I am not so sure about is mobile bills? All other areas such as gas electric, broadband I have been able to cut through other means but mobile phone bill seems to allude me and the utility warehouse did have an offer to reduce the monthly sums.

I only signed up to my most recent o2 deal earlier this year but does anyone know if I can achieve reduced rates?

Thanks in advance

Usually only when you're out of contract. Most companies will negotiate then and you can play them off against one another.

You can also get some reasonable cashback offers on mobile contracts from Quidco and other cashback sites.

I've an old iPhone with Vodafone. They dropped my monthly bill (unlimited everything) from £42 to £7.50, and credited my account with £100 - effectively giving me a free phone for a year, all because I didnt upgrade and asked for a better deal.

Chams or Socials

I renegotiated all my bills when I became a single parent. They are desperate to keep you.

Virgin & Sky are the best if you can go through the hassle of them saying they can knock £5 off per month & to say you'll cancel & come back as new customer. Go through to leavers & they'll offer you the new customer packages.

With a mobile contract I think as long as you've held it for 6 months they will renegotiate. Just tell them your work hours are being cut.

The Fire Brigade provided me with new

smoke alarms & CO detector & special plugs for the tv's which cuts all power when on standby for 20 seconds. They also advises turning all plug sockets off when not in use - made a difference to my bills.

When you get "ANY" bill it sayss "CREDIT" u have a phone u have CREDIT on it.

Double dipping, soon as they know u will not hear from them again.

Not paid 1 gas bill, eleccy bill since 2006, same as companies i "owe" money to they already paid it for you.

Being subsidised by the rest of us ... does that include your Starbucks too?

What on earth?

How have they not disconnected you? Of you use utilities you should have to pay for them.

Usually utility companies are very quick off the mark when it comes to passing the debt to debt collection agencies.

A credit account only means they credit you by letting you use something and pay for it afterwards.

A credit card doesn't give you free money.

Thanks all.

Currently paying £70 for gas/electric and found a fixed tariff for £57.

Broadband and phone line I have found for £11 rather than £30 currently going to sky.

As regards TV I'm not watching it enough to justify sky so will probably just sack the whole lot off.

Utility warehouse seem to offer tariffs for phones for c.£11 a month as against £20/£25 currently paying. I am unsure if that can be achieved through negotiation.

What utter bolox.

Your supplier will have paid for the gas/electricity or whatever from their supplier. Obviously though they use the money that people are paying to them to pay those suppliers.

What you're suggesting is the equivalent to going into Asda and filling your shopping trolley, then walking out without paying for what you've taken.... because Asda have already paid their suppliers for it all. I may be wrong but believe the country's laws call this practice "Theft".

I'm with three and when I upgraded my phone it was to a different network but I didn't understand how to change the sim to keep my number, spoke to three and they offered me a £15 sim only deal. I've no idea what I get for that and I do go over it but it's still a saving of almost £20 per month

not sure what planet the other poster lives on. That's like saying I can walk into a dealer ship and drive away any car I like as they have already paid for it.
