What the Hell's all that about FFS?

We used to walk the long way to school whenever there was snow and the long way home.

None of our teachers ever failed to turn up and even though we had snow most years, the schools stayed open.

Now,just because we have 2 proper winters on the trot, the schools close.

When our school boilers used to pack up we sat in our overcoats and did lessons.

What a bloody namby pamby nation we're becoming.

Northern Europe and Canada must be laughing their heads off at us!

It's a bloody good job industry doesn't close down as easily as the schoold do or we'd be in a damned sight worse fucking state than we are now.

It's a bloody joke with these schools it really is, and before anybody starts we've heard all the wishy washy bland excuses in their favour.

Sorry but 99% of them don't wash with me !

It's any old excuse to have a day off

Cyprus

Anyone remember the oil crisis in 1976?

We all went to school in snow drifts and freezing our tootsies off......sat in cold class rooms or all in assembly halls (cus it was cheaper to heat one room).......

And we loved it!

Maybe all the extra days off because of 'the weather' should be reclaimed later in term time.

The little darlings have enough days off as it is so I'm sure they won't mind payback time when it comes round

A friends girlfriend is a teacher, he says she's off work today, tomorrow and the next day too because her schools closed due to the weather!

Now that's what we'd say was being a bit bloody presumptuous!

I would suspect that a lot of it is due to insurance risk nowadays....

Can remember all them times too, unfortunately back then people didn’t have to commute 70 miles or more to get to their jobs, it used to be nice communities with everything within walking distance when the hard times hit, yes we might have made it to school back then in a foot of snow but the lucky buggers who travelled in by bus always got the day off
