I'm curious to know if anyone has been in some kind of special relationship and then the other half has ghosted on you (walked away/vanished without saying goodbye)....or if you did the ghosting, what was your main reason for doing so.

Yes, I have done that to someone.

It was a very intense thing that lasted 3 or 4 mths, after which time I had a long hard think about it and decided that they were bad for my mental health and resolved to break all contact.

I dropped them like a stone and, do you know what, they NEVER contacted me again.

Double ghost.

Fucked up.

London

Back in my travelling days we often met people who had been friends for years and touring around together. On quite a few occasions one would just bugger of in the middle of the night! It was usually easy to see why but amusing never the less.

Ok. Thanks. So there're different levels of ghosting.

Yeah. Like leaving ghostly sentences in the middle of posts

This thread is specifically aimed at two people who had a great friendship and understanding.

Yep... It was a few years ago, I was a lot more immature then. It was a long distance relationship, I blocked him every which way I could!

Know someone who makes themselves known just when I'm about to start putting the moves on someone else then they disappear again like a fart in the wind.

My oldest kids dad kept doing this. They don't respect you, they don't tell you you've split up because they're not sure about the new person they've met and want to keep you waiting around while they do their own shit. I agree it's immature.

Or they're shit scared of your domineering ways, violence, verbal abuse, stalker tendencies. Or they just plain know there's no more to be said and you'd hold on to their ankle like a fucking infant on the breast.

Not YOU I hasten to add.

I was definitely too soft on him so yeah that's not me (or wasn't me at the time anyway)...

Women need to distinguish between children and men don't you think ?

I seldom get that one right.

SW London

A close family member walked out on his wife and three children, disappeared for twenty years until his mother tracked him down, still no contact with ex wife and children, now adults with their own children.

When I asked him why, he said he was suicidal and felt trapped, he had read about how horrible it was for those left behind after suicide ... thing is he told me he called his wife after being away two years ... went like this

Him: Hi, its Tony

Wife: Tony who?

He was shocked and upset she reacted that way. Told him if it has been me, the reaction would have been slightly different.
