What the bloody hell are bucket and spade families? Anyone with kids under 11 are bucket and spade families.

If you don't like it go out of season or to resorts that don't cater for families.

I think it's worth paying more for something you actually want, other wise you wasted your money if you got something less.

Sorry but it comes across that you're being a snob. If you can afford to pay then do it, but in this day and age with last minute deals, don't be surprised to find people from all walks of life in your holiday destination. Focus more on enjoying yourself and having a good time with the people you're with rather than worrying about 'bucket and spade' families.

But surely you expect harvester to be bedlam. Anyway, people take kids to 'nice' restaurants. I know - I worked in one for 10 years.

To be honest I am not sure why all the young child hate. they've got to go somewhere, they learn how to behave when put in certain situations (if their parents have a clue), and we all have the choice to avoid the more kid-friendly places if we so desire.

I actually don't notice them. Or I put my headphones in.

I wonder if the OP was a model of childhood behaviour.

Brighton - even Hove!

My kids behave because my wife and I have good parenting skills, we go to the beach with buckets and spades and we do alright. What I can do is sneer at snobby people because they have to show their lack of confidence by putting down others. Real class don't have to. Having money doesn't make you a better person. It's a sign of ignorance if you think it does.

Agreed , as I said earlier .... Trash with cash... I've known people who struggle all year to save to take their families on holiday to make memories.

Those people who fob their children off with gadgets all year round and expect the, to have social skills are or ally the ones who think they have social standing because of that money.

Doesn't mean a damn thing..... It doesn't impress me

It depends on what can actually be promised. Sometimes I do think it's worth paying a little extra if you want peace and quiet, but that's if it can be guaranteed...

I've paid rediculous prices to go to 5* hotels abroad in the past that were advertised as "kid-free".

Upon arrival, it became clear that it was BRITISH-kid-free but still had Spanish, German and other nationalities' rugrats, running about causing mischief and generally being annoying.

I put in a massive complaint and got over half the cost back to be fair...

Having money is obviously your point, you claim the more expensive the holiday, the nicer the kids. That's just not true. Your just setting yourself up for an expensive disappointment rather than a mid priced one. Some people (the ones I think you mean) will do without all year, to pay top whack to go where they want. They will be determined to enjoy themselves (even if it upsets those around them).

I've had holidays marred by hooray Henry's. Your on holiday. Chill your beans.

Im assuming you have no children, so like others have said go to places where there are no or very few children. My kids are now grownup but for years we did bucket and spade holidays, ie holiday camp accommodation until they were both in secondary school. Now we find places to go where there are very few kids. Warners do adult holiday accommodation, no kids. Try that

I knew exactly what you were getting at, OP.

It can be embarrassing at times being abroad when Brits behave badly.

I'll also try and avoid 'the masses', who venture to the following places;

Benidorm, Torremolinos, Lloret De Mar, Magaluf... you get the idea.

You can't buy class. Manners and good parenting would negate these issues.

Or as others have said choose adults only resorts out of term time.

This isn't necessarily about money either because you need a few quid for a foreign holiday as a family.

I wouldn't worry about it, sometimes you just wanna relax without the hassle of any kids being about. I'm the same sometimes. I don't hate kids, i'm not a snob about kids and definitely love the ones that belong to people i care about, and often enjoy the ones i don't even know and are just there, but just by being there it can sometimes spoil time you wanted away from kids. And the people with kids will talk about their kids when you're not interested and that can spoil time off too.
