The 34/32R jeans are always sold out, so that might be close to average

The average size for a woman is size 16 and when I was a 16 it was always the size in the shop that was either sold out or low stock

I can tell you that getting anything to fit me is a nightmare. I'm certainly not average body shape.

You may be right, once thing that never ceases to amaze me at my gym, is just how few English people are there.

I don't think this country embraces physical culture like Europe does.

Yes I think size 16 seems to be the average for females but im personally happy with all sizes was a time killer in a hospital waiting area tho give it a try

Apparently the UK average for a man is 5' 10" tall, 12 stone, 34 waist and 38 chest.

I've the same issue from taekwondo. The fashion for super slim jeans does me no favours...

Go round cloth shops and look at the sizes that seem to always be sold out I'd say that's average as that's the sizes that's most popular, also sizes you don't see many of in the sale

Going by my local, which I agree may not be right I'd say average for a woman is a 16/18 ish

Averages now are skewed higher, but I'd say male average is 34 waist. Guys are taller than they were and younger guys have that post adolescent smaller frame size, through to their 20s.

Waist size can increase with height, keeping it all in proportion. So size 36 waist on a 6' 4" body is finer than a 36" on a 5' 7" guy..

But lets not help people feel uncomfortable - there's too much pressure already.

Same here...I have never been what I would have classed as massive but I do have a 17" neck and a 44" chest. But most shirts to fit my neck/back look like sails as I have a 30-32" waist

Not sure what to think, I'm a 50" Chest, 38" waist these days at just over 18st, but used to be almost exactly the same weight with a 31" waist, guess I no longer have 29" thighs and the arms seem a tad smaller these days. Is that what they mean by middle age spread?

I think the PC term is 'maturity redistribution'...
