Do u you need jabs for Egypt

Hey

Off to Egypt in six weeks and wondered if I need to get vacation jabs or not.

Ask nurse at local surgery. Need to get them now if you do need.

Probably tetanus, hep c or b

I had jabs in 2008 when I went to Egypt, think I had them 2 weeks before I went.

If you're from the UK, and going straight there, no. If you've got your visa, you're legally okay. Best to check with GP to ensure you're up to date.

NHS says:

Immunisations

Confirm primary courses and boosters are up to date as recommended for life in Britain - including for example, vaccines required for occupational risk of exposure, lifestyle risks and underlying medical conditions.

Courses or boosters usually advised: Hepatitis A; Typhoid.

Other vaccines to consider: Hepatitis B; Rabies; Tetanus.

Yellow fever vaccination certificate required for travellers over 9 months of age arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission and for travellers having transited more than 12 hours through the airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.

Yeah going sharm for the snorkelling and sun. Can't get a flak jacket to suit my outfit for the day trips

Best place to get all ur advice is on fab, get the info and the witty satire

I was told I didn't need them before we went to sharm last year but I had previously had them for other destinations.

One thing I would do is pack anti-bacterial hand gel and wipes. Lots of. Don't touch door handles wherever possible either, I always covered my hand to lock public toilet doors or better still don't use public toilets. I learned all this the hard way after spending 4 days of my holiday violently sick and on medication.

Apart from that it's a lovely place but I won't be going back just yet.

The same can be said about using public toilets at seaside resorts in this country...

I think I'd have the HepA one, as this can be caught from food. HepB is useful anyway, as a swinger, as it can be transmitted sexually or ingestion. I think you'd need a full course of B treatment, to likely get full immunity, but worth considering anyway.

Would'nt worry about jabs if you're going sharm or hughgada. just Make sure you take lots of imodium , I learnt the hard way when going on a 6hour coach journey to luxor with the toilet out of order
