My friends are in relationships and have kids so are always busy or stay in.

I get really bored as a singleton in my spare time and I'm wondering what other single people do?

I am gonna look for volunteer work soon and I want to learn French as a social activity as well

I am in a year long 'can't find a job following uni' phase though so couldn't afford French tuition fees this year.

I know there are plenty about. I've applied for about 50 in the last 2 months. It's tough at the moment and extremely competitive. A lot of entry level jobs where I am want 3 years experience.

That is off topic though and I don't wanna be a whiner

Me Jason , used to practice drumming , ( get a hobby) and tidy up,

I also used to spend the week looking for my next weekends fun on pof.

Was worse for me was a single dad my job back then did not involve meeting women , and the only people I used to meet were at the school,

Lol yummy mummies or milfs don't exist Monday morning

Honestly? Take anything you can and keep looking for one you want.

I don't have any friends so that's not an issue for me. I've never worried myself with what other people are doing. I'm used to my own company so have lots of ways to keep myself entertained and rarely get that bored. Reading, music and photography being my main interests. Would like to do a college course or Open university course at some point in the near future. That should help fill the time.

OP, if you are unemployed there should be free classes you can do? I know people who did a course I was on for free. Or get a hobby, mine takes up loads of my free time!

Married people like moi (see what I did there?) can also find limited friends time cos we are all busy with kids etc. Spare time is very valuable, but you won't appreciate it until you lose it.

Funny there's a thread about what to do when your fronds are in relationships. I'm at a loose end lately as my best has her boyfriend home on summer leave. I usually go over there on a weekend but the last month and probably for god knows how long I won't see or here off here. Feel a bit used when he goes and I'm suddenly getting called and messaged again and invited over.

Organize meeting and doing stuff with your friends differently - exercise, group get togethers, regular trips out. Then find a new social circle, probably by pursuing interests.

Use all of your talents and skills, don't stifle some part of you. Ensure your creative side is still active somehow. It's enlivening.

Get out in to the wild world and nature. Grow things.

I've done voluntary work since school. I help people who have terminal health problems and help others improve their lives. Caring and love is a great thing to share.

Have small short term goals, alongside your career hunting ones. Approaching other people each week, trying a new fitness etc.

an have a busy life. photography i have as a hobby. listen to music, watch films, go out have fun im never bored

love being single im free from romantic relationships an constraints of being in one. plus im having more fun being single

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I have been online to register my interest in a local volunteering position through DoIt.org.

It is'nt just boredom thats affecting me but the social isolation from unemployment that has proved quite damaging to my mental health.

Hopefully a volunteer role will sort that out plus it will be something recent to stick on my cv

You can get.language books from library, or online. Use their broadband too!

I'm single.. Hate it.. But my priority is me finding a job I enjoy rather than the one im stuck in. I arrange nights out when I can and firm arrangements with my busy friends. I'm not v sociable sometimes.
