Just had a tax rebate !!

Got it by email ?( never have before ?)

Went onto HMRC website as directed ?

Filled all info to get on to the right page

Then asked to put in bank details!!!!??

Not a chance looks like the scammers are trying this route to get money ??

Hope this post just brings it to your attention?

Was it the genuine HMRC site? Have you called them to check it out?

I had my notice by post. Owed them 41p so they are going to take it out of my wages - can't figure out why as a single working parent of three, I still owe them money, despite paying eight hundred in tax a month - and still owe them money!!

One thing you can be sure of is that you will always owe the tax man....wonder how much it cost to produce and post that letter . Seriously though, question it they aren't infallible but if you're earning the money you have to pay the tax.

That makes me so mad. Try using the web site that gives you alternative land line numbers

A simple rule is that no reputable organisation ever contacts you by email to inform you of a debt or a payment to be made.

Therefore all emails of this nature can be dismissed as spam.

This is a scam the HMRC will not email you about a tax rebate.

If you really want to find out if it's real then put in your bank details and check your account tomorrow

Surely you don't mean you clicked on a link from an email rather than searching for the official site on the web?
