ITV: Exposure: Making the grades

Documentary currently on ITV (ITV+1 at 1140pm) exploring how teachers are being pressured into helping children cheat in exams by management.

Exam boards accused of failing to investigate whistleblower concerns thoroughly - as they risk losing the school as a customer.

Whistleblowing teachers forced out and under pressure teachers are leaving profession.

A very broken system.

It's broken because the holy grail is everyone passing the exams instead of getting an education. Schools are condemned as failing if the requisite number of exams are not passed.

Yes, they are important but measuring success in such a narrow way leads to teaching to pass the exams and a system where any and all steps are taken to ensure the exams are passed - whether anyone has learned anything or not.

Why is the state blind to this?

God forbid we should have a nation of people with the ability to use critical thinking, their imagination and the ability to apply both in a practical sense. If we teach people to accept and not question, then the status quo prevails.

Not everything that has value can be measured and not everything that can be measured has value.

They know exactly how important education is...so they replaced with schooling.

School is a school, fuckin teach kids, stop running everything like a business, doctors surgerys, hospitals, just look after people, councils, do councilly type stuff, why does everything have to be run like a business.....it's shit!
