Your first memories of Christmas Morning

My earliest memory, was being woken up by my eldest brother telling me that Father Christmas has been (think it was about 5am), going down stairs to find the living room littered with gifts (there was 5 of us so a lot to go round), open coal fire then the smell of dinner cooking, don't think the TV was even switched on till early evening, all sat down looking forward to the Morcombe & Wise Christmas Special think I was 5 or 6.

it isn't my earliest memory, but I can remember one year, I was probably 6 or 7, we were just about to go to bed Christmas Eve...was a mild night, lovely snow was falls...a blanket of snow covering everything..and all of a sudden we saw "santa" walking down the street with a huge sack over his shoulder! for a 7 year old that was mind blowing...seeing santa walk by and then just the lone trace of footprints up the snowy road...needless to say our folks said we better hurry to get to bed as he knew we were still awake, that was why he didn't stop at our house...lol...I never jumped into bed so fast in my life

coming down the stairs with my sister,

opening our presents and seeing my action man, all green and camouflaged.

looking across at my sister cuddling her Barbie.... all sparkly and camp.

and grabbing Barbie... and shouting MINE MINE MINE.

I look back and shudder with embarrassment ......... how could a 15 year old behave so.

a Primark shoebox in Leicester

Being locked out of the house at around 6 in the morning ..... after taking my new trike out for a test drive. Then realising why my mum would always tell me to put my coat on if I was going outside. Then finding out my mum and dad don't get up until 8am.

A lesson learnt indeed......... the next year I asked for a record player... they didn't stay in bed until 8 that year

A word of warning... not that anyone buys record players anymore, but still...

Do make sure your child has more than one record to play on it... otherwise by lunchtime.... well you can imagine how many shredded nerves there were.

I am struggling to remember my earliest christmas memory but have two that will stick in my mind.

1. My younger brother was about 7 and on christmas morning he had a new bike hidden behind the patios curtains.

Dad asked him top open the curtains so we could see better and hus face when he opened it to see a new bike brought tears to my eyes and still does.

2 I went to midnught mass with my mum when I was old enough to stay awake long enough (think I was about 13) and we walked out of the church and it was snowing. It must have been 12.15am on Christmas day and we almost skipped down the path as the feeling of it snowing hard on christmas day morning was one of my most delightful experiences on christmas day.

Youngest memory I guess must be my younger brother handing out presents to everyone but dont remember how old I was,maybe 9. I remember playing in the snow at christmas and being very cold when I was about 5.

Earliest memory I have is my little sister waking me up shouting that Santa's been-our christmas stockings were full of stuff....only to be yelled at by the old dears to get back to bed as it was 2am-think she was about 4, so I'd have been 7

My worst was the same as yours really 28th Dec, major shit isnt it lol. 5 years down the line now and the shit slowly waters down xx

first memory of xmas I can recall was sneaking a peek to see if I had got the "doll with long hair" I so longer for. When I looked I was so exited but when I got her out and proceeded to let her hair down to restyle it she was bald in the centre. You cannot imagine the disappointment.

Furthest memory on Christmas Day - was 5years old and got my first proper bicycle wahey here i go (thinking im a rally driver!). 10mins later i got my dads tool box and took the stabilisers off seconds before he caught me. I managed to get away haha. An hour later i wrote it off! My dad didnt know whether to laugh or cry. My mum put her head in her hands and blamed my dad. He said my behaviour was out of control. She said was his fault for taking me to car rallys.

When 12 years old got what must have been my sixth or seventh bicycle on Christmas day. My first racing bike. Within an hour i wrote it off by hitting a car, going over the handle bars landing on a parked car, sliding off and landing on my feet. Driver got out screaming thinking she had killed me. I gave her one hell of a bollocking - though maybe i shouldnt have!

Next day (Boxing Day) i was to visit my friend 5miles away as he was to get a new bicycle also. Asked my brother to borrow his. He said no way (he saved £500 to buy it in 1990 and this was 1991). It was a very light weight racing bicycle. My dad felt sorry for me and let me sneak away with it. On the way home i wrote it off against a telegraph pole (ffs)! When my brother (i was 12, he was 18) found out the next day he broke down in tears and we had one hell of a fist fight. Plates, a chair and a door and some Christmas presents got broken along with black eyes bust lips and cut fingers on my brother and i, and my mum and dad had cuts and bruises trying to split us up!

OMG my poor mother.

Five years later when i was 17...hang-on im stopping here. you can probably guess what happened.

Mine was opening a doll I'd received and it was one of those Victorian type dolls, lovely dress and old fashioned face. I remember looking at it and loving her so much, she was so pretty.

Of course those things are quite freaky arent they, not sure why I loved it, always been a bit strange

My best christmas memory i was maybe seven and couldnt get to sleep because of excitement. My bed was under the window and my mum came in and moved the curtain slightly to the side and said if i concentrated hard enough i would see santas sleigh in the sky and here him and i still swear i did.

Worst memory is being locked up in a mental hospital when my son was about eight and he spent it with his father i was in for ages and all over the christmas

It was the year me and my bro got our 'Chopper' bikes. We came down Xmas morning to see these two huge gleaming bikes in the middle of the living room, mine was red his was purple. There was a pile of pressies beside each bike and our sister's presents were stacked by the fireplace.

Those bikes were sooooo cooooooool!

Sadly, mine got nicked a year later when my dad decided the shed was a great place to store his car seats while he worked on the interior. The bikes were relegated to the back garden and someone duly helped themselves to mine.

They left my brother's and I'm convinced to this day that they nicked the red one cos red bikes are faster than purple ones. Wankers!
