i know not everyone into bikes but mine was yamaha RD 250E passed my test day after 17th birthday (11-11-81) and moved on to 350 lc still have kenny roberts 350 lc and honda CBR 400 RR what did you have/ got now?

1st was an Aprillia RS125 - had a couple of Ducatis and a couple of Kawasakis - have kawasaki zzr600 at the moment Z

you are near my age so will have done simple test i paid for my son a couple of years ago to get open licence was£500 and took a full week for training and test a joke

Ok so this doesn't actually count as a motorbike but my first was a FS1E that was on my 16th birthday in 1973. The so-called 'Sixteener Specials' had only just hit the market. I bought it new for £159.Dad picked it up from the shop with his truck in the afternoon and I waited for 12 o clock midnight for my license/insurance to come into force and then off I went. Mother was mental time I got home a couple of hours later.

17th birthday, part-ex the FS1E for a new Kawasaki KH250. But would you believe I got £169 for the FS in part-ex. The KH was about £400 I think.

I also taught myself to drive after my 17th. Passed my test first time and bought a Roots Singer for £50, soon to be replaced by a MK1 Cortina GT.

Biking faded into the background until about 18 years ago, did the test and got a Yamaha XJ900, thinking 'I must have grown up by now', alas 'no', soon got bored with the XJ and got a ZZR100.

Anyway, I carried on getting older, the bike got heavier, I got more sensible, the councils put out more speed cams... no fun anymore just a worry.

I wonder how many people will know my first bike. It was a NSU Quickly 49cc Second bike was a Honda 250 Super Dream, then I slipped back to a Honda 90 step through But for the last 5 years I have been riding a Honda Blackbird best bike I ever owned and ridden.

Ooohhh I missed out the Vespa 150 scooter i borrowed off my cousin after the Quickly got nicked from college.

You should get one of those flip mechanisms for your number plate, or learn to pull wheelies past speed cameras.

My first bike was a GS125, took my test a couple of weeks after 17th birthday and was finally legal to ride the Benelli 354 Sport I'd been blasting around on for ages!

Had a Gpz550 when I was 19, stuffed it, and it put me off bikes for 10 years, when I got a Gpz1000RX, which I still have.

Also got an XRV750, which I've ridden all round Europe on. Next year - Mongolia or bust!

i use a honda cb500s for everyday travel.

it is brilliant on fuel, goes everyday in all weathers and is cheap to insure.

i also have a yoshimura ama gsxr 1000 superbike.

i touched the wall at daytona at 207mph and broken my ankle.

the bike has 205 bhp and cost £27,000.

119 in first gear and weights less than the 600cc versions.

it will be up for sale shortly as ive lost my job and hardly use it now.

My first Bike was one my Dad built me when I was 4, I then progressed onto Moto X and then Circuit racing, after that I got into stunting but have calmed down a lot now and ride a little more sensibly.

Bikes I own now are many but the zx12r is my current favourite

and know a former world champ very well, even used to sort his bike for him.....

progresed to track racing, but better at sliding on my ass than riding on wheels

first was a suzuki ts100c

have been thru hondas, yamaha's and kawasakis. only two bikes i wrote off were both kawasaki gt750's and within 18 months of each other. so don't ride kwaks anymore. have a brace of xj900f's now.do over 40k miles a year, all year and still in love with them.

i recommend doing the new silverstone track as i was invited to test the new ducati 848 evo for next years championship.

also nurburging Nordschleife is a must.

you can touch over 210 mph on the final straight before re entering the gp circuit.

an absolute must.

First bike was a Suzuki GSX250 bought new in 1979. Passed my test and moved onto CX500, then a 750 Bonny, biggest pile of shite I ever bought, then BMW R80, then onto a succession of all sorts, then stopped riding for a time.

Got the classic bike bug in early 90's and bought a naked 1977 GL1000K2. Bought a Kwacker ZZR1100 in 2000 and wrote it off when I hit a badger on a country lane. Fucked my knee up so stopped riding again. Then got the bug again and bought a VN1500 Custom Classic, Knee still hurt so packed in again.

Then one night in the pub we were talking about building a cafe racer, so after another few beers I went home, fired up the pc and bought a 650 Bros on Ebay. This is now a work in progress, just the bathroom, just like the shed, just like my old Merc in the garage

Too many to recount but started with a BSA Bantam then a Honda 90 sports. Presently have a Suzuki Hayabusa in the garage, which is up for sale. I can no longer ride bikes due to a medical condition of my shoulder.

love the r1 but cant seem to sit comfy on it, love the ducati desmosedici rr but don't have the spare pennys to buy or keep one on the road and prb wont for a while lol

forgot to say i did my test on a cg125 that had tyres the width of a pencil and drum brakes that could stop you to stationary in roughly 2 days.... and it was the heaviest rain i've ever ridden in, didnt make a bit of difference visor up or down, when i did my emergency stop i aqua planed and then the rear wheel locked lol yet managed to somehow magically get it back and controlled it enough to stop in a pleasing fashion lol the examiner pissed himself laughing from the luxury of his nice dry and warm 4x4 shogun, and then said fair play you did well there??

when i got home i peeled my leathers off to find i had been dyed blue from how soaked they had got, and couldnt get out to ride for the next 3 days due to stupid artic like conditions, so i was the most happy yet frustrated smurf in the world

My first was a Matchless 350cc single cyinder followed by a BSA C11G 250 cc( first of the OHV)

Sprayed oil everywhere but the sounds are still with me

TY80 at 6 or 7 years old, AR50 at 16, AR125 at 17. GPX250, GSXR400 and GSXR750 was my last one and my pride and joy, which i sold to finance me leaving my husband.... worth every penny lol

mine was a honda nsr125rr. very pretty. not a lot else could be said about it. oh it had electric start. very good, given the amount of times i stalled it :D

years later i tried track racing. WOW!
