Target in America are removing all gender references from their children's departments, (toys, home, entertainment).

My question is this.... If little Timmy wanted a barbie, or Sarah wants a full on army set with sniper rifle, would you get them one?

I never had a Barbie as a kid. Too busy playing with my brothers Lego and action man. Way more fun

yes!! for sure. Everyone bought my sister Barbies but I had a bmx mini snooker table and climbed trees.

I think we can all agree I'm awesome

I fully agree with this. I'm lucky in that I've always had a full range of toys available to my children and they play with what they want. I've never referred to any of the toys as gender specific and question them if I hear them refer to something as a girls toy or a boys toy etc. I have a keen interest in child development.....

My daughter was as girlie as could be, but loved playing with airfix models and remote control cars. She would sometimes glue dolls onto the roof of the car.

My uncle gave my brother all his old hot wheels cars and track from the 1970's I would love nothing more than sending the cars down the hill in our garden through the loop de loop and then the ring of fire at the end. Was never really a girly girl as a kid. Still not now tbh

I've got 3 boys and they all have enjoyed barbies and dress up and even nail paining. I see no problem with it. My youngest loved frozen and it upset me when I had to explain to him last year that he couldn't take take the elsa toy to school because some of the other kids didn't understand it was okay for boys to like that. I went and bought him an olaf as a compromise. It's not the kids though it's the ignorant small minded parents of them

Yes. Toys are toys and I never understood this "fear" some parents have if little Timmy starts playing dolls, yet nobody really batts an eyelid if Jessica likes to play with tanks or Hot Wheels...

I never liked dolls they weirded me out too much but I do love ragdolls used to collect them and my brother always used to play with the prams and pushchairs nothing wrong with it x

I would have thought that gender references disappeared from goods long ago.

I have never heard of a Girl's Barbie or a Boy's Action Man.

It's attitudes that need changing but I guess de labelling is a step forward.

My children are nearing 40 they were not bought toys on the basis of their gender.

In fact I refused to buy 'kitchens', hoovers , etc.....

My dad used to batter me when he caught me sitting in the dolls pram or letting people lie over it while we pushed each other round at high speed.

Dolls in it ? Where is the fun in that ?

Why is it a issue for people, enough hate in the world, wish the same people who have issues with gender related stereotyping took the fight against poverty or war on as a crusade.
