A Serendipitous Moment

Has anyone else ever had one of those moments in life? A truly life changing occurrence when you least expect it or as in my case just when you really needed it. I think if we’re lucky we may get one or two of these times in our lives, when all the planets align and life just gives you a break.

It has only ever happened to me once, a couple of years ago now. At the time I was having a lot of personal problems. I won’t go into details but I was in pretty dire straits. I met this woman at work. She just so happened to walk in this one day out of the blue. To cut a very long story short she went onto totally turn my life around. We chatted regularly and she became a friend, when I didn’t have any. Just from knowing her and being around her she helped snap me out of all the problems I was having. She was a very unique, special individual. If I believed in God then I would have honestly thought he’d sent me an angel that day. That’s how profound this chance encounter was for me. The whole timing of it all was unbelievable.

I sometimes think how my life would have turned out had I not met her that day, as she quite literally saved my life. I know that sounds melodramatic but it’s true. So has anyone else had a moment/chance meeting like that? A moment in time that when you think back on it, sent your life down a totally different route.

Can my serendipity moment be about realising I was making a huge mistake?

Yes, I guess a bad moment counts as well.

The moment I met Jools my life changed forever.

I was on a one way ticket to oblivion, wasting athletic talent and drinking myself into an early grave and I was only 17.

She changed everything, just by being there and loving me.

I honestly don't believe I would be here today had I not met her.

Do angel's exist?

I like to think so, I ended up married to one

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Serendipity is one of my favourite words.

OP, I'm here (as in alive and as is on Fab) because of two such serendipitous moments.

That's lovely. Slightly sickly but nice

Life's full of these moments. It's just some are much more profound than others. To think where we may have ended up without these chance encounters.

Well mine has certainly led me to Fab as well. I wouldn't be here without it and thus not met some of you wonderful ladies

Ok then, then moment I was sat in the bath, making one of the hardest decisions of my life. To call off my wedding, which would of been 3 months away (although my mother informs me it was less than that)

Sitting in that bath, I made the decision to call off there and then, I don't why I chose that moment, I can't explain it, but it happened, I rang my dad (in the bath) and broke the news. He was so supportive and was behind me every step of the way.

Just telling the truth, which sometimes makes us sick, sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way.

Do you think that was the right decision? And would you say it has sent you down a much happier, more fulfilling path?

I was only joking. It's a lovely story. I'm a sucker for things like that

Defiantly the right decision! (Not that it's a bad thing) , but I'd have had a divorce behind me if I had just gone along with it. Much, much happier, no fault of his own, I was never in love with him and stupid to even have thought about marriage.

Yes, about 11 years ago, someone entered my life in a very strange way. Where in my life for about 2 years constantly and then left in strange circumstances.

Far to personal for even me to put on here.

Just wish I could tell them where I am now

Firstly when I met my husband!! I realised what love was, and how wonderful a Man could truly be, and how good life could be, but it took him dying before I really appreciated that.

Although I don't want to "rain on your parade" I don't think that serendipity is really the right word.... serendipity is just "a nice surprise".

The life changing events you're decanting seem far more than just serendipity. .

I understand what you're saying but it was serendipity in that moment. Right from the first second I spoke to her I was changed. Like love at first sight but without the love bit.

Yes, I believe I had a serendipitous moment was similar in ways to this.

Love this thread, mine was definitely meeting my now husband, I was a young single mum of 4 1/2 years, big trust issues and my own mother was very sick in hospital, we had worked in the same place for over 9months but I hadn't ever noticed him before and after 1 conversation he made me feel safe which I had never felt before ?? we connected straight away and 12 years later we are more in love then ever

I had a book fall off a shelf in a bookstall that enabled me to make sense of some profound experiences I was going through at the time. Without it I had no mental frame of reference for what I was experiencing. You could call that serendipity or synchronicity ??
