Iv always booked with FirstChoice. I like the All Inclusive.

Manchester

Ive booked ours separately last couple of years.

Booked flights direct with airline, booked hotel through travel republic, and transfers through yellowfish.

Think it worked out cheaper, seemed a good deal anyway

Yep, book individual elements seperately and you can save a packet.

OP, if you're flexible enough to go at any time or day of the week, have a look at how the flight charges vary over a week or so.

eg return flight from France Sat/Sun £110 each, Mon £20.

Some good deals on accomodation in Yorkshire at the mo.

I book with FirstChoice a lot too.

Although went on a holiday with a friend last year and they booked the hotel online and flights direct with Ryanair, seemed to work out a lot cheaper. We just caught a bus from the airport to the hotel.

That may not be your best option OP, but try it anyway.

The major tour and travel companies block book a number of rooms in advance, lets say 100 rooms per week throughout the season, and thus get a "bargain rate". They then have to shift them to punters, often at bargain prices just to get rid.

Whereas a hotel direct will try get their full rack rate from you, they won't be selling the travel companies rooms. Hence invariably dearer.

Word is that looking for a "cheaper deal" is best done 3 weeks before departure, not last minute.

I was quoted £280 on Booking.com for a hotel. I emailed them direct and got the same number for nights for £187. Result

Ah solo person. One of the worst things about being single. Invariably, holidays are based on room rates and hence 2 or 4 sharing so single supplements are high.

Seriously have a look, it fluctuates day to day and for some reason northern airports are cheaper at the mo, I'm not booking while the start of sept as it can be cheaper especially if your willing to be flexible about the airport you use x

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

It depends. I'll do it all myself for the US, use companies like Virgin Holidays for all inclusive to the Caribbean, and actual travel agents always as a benchmark.

Always tempted to use these not to well heard of companies, but never have as yet!

We normally stick to Thomson, Thomas Cook or first choice for main holiday, for long weekend breaks or short distance holidays we try bad book hotel and flight seperately to save a few pennies

What's the crack with lollipop? You find what your looking for, then have to ring a number.. What happens within the phone call?

Iv always booked through first choice, so, no clue
