Has/is anyone been with Slimming world? Has it worked for you and is worth joining?

I don't want to pay £5 a week if it's a load of bollocks.

I did Lost three and a half stone on the diet. Found it an easy diet to stick to as I could still drink booze at the weekends as long as I was sensible in the week

I've done it & lost 3 stone. Takes a few weeks to get your head round it but it quickly becomes habit

Everytime i hear slimming world I always think Swinging world.

Know people who have used it and it's worked, but it does seem to take a little bit of effort to work out stuff.

Also if you have a lot to loose some GPS will give you vouchers for the first 12 weeks.

2 stone in 9 weeks by going to the gym or swimming 4 or 5 times a week and using plates that are 30% smaller than my old ones. I have a 'cheat day' every week were I allow myself a takeaway and some chocolate. I've dropped two clothes sizes in that time and I feel great. My step mum uses slimming world and she's been successful with that. Different things work for different people.

Really? I've got a LOT to lose, however I cannot see my GP giving me vouchers though.

your doctor or nurse can refer you, I can't see why you won't get them, I know lots of people that have had them, just go and ask.

I had 3 lots of vouchers. As long as you lose 5% of your body weight each 12 weeks they will normally give you more as it's cheaper than dealing with weight related health problems later on

It works, I have lost a stone and a half so far. I'm amazed at what you can eat though I do struggle with the detail of it.

GPs can prescribe exercise and weight loss groups now, and have been able to for a while. Exactly what is available depends on your area. You can often get reduced prices on a short term gym membership and some personal training sessions, reduced price swimming, free weight loss classes like Slimming World etc. It's not unusual at all.

Ask your GP what's available in your area. I'd be very surprised if they won't offer some help.

Slimmingworld really does work! It's not really a diet its just healthy eating. I don't have have a lot of weight to lose for me it's more about maintaining a healthy weight my hubby lost four and a half stone following slimmingworld. We didn't joun a class though you can find loads of imfomation about it online. If you type in free Severn day slimmingworld menu you'll find loads of helpful tips and of course a Severn day menu. X

I would say that to an extent, whether it's worth it depends on why you're overweight and why you want to lose it.

In my case, I comfort eat and when and what I eat depends strongly on my mood. I won't properly resolve my weight problem until I get my head and my emotional connections with food sorted out. I don't think Slimming World could help me with that.

If you just eat too much of the wrong things and need a plan to follow and some moral support, and if you're ready to do it and committed, it'll be more likely to help.

I know lots of people who've lost weight that way.

I've done slimming world twice and lost 3 stone each time. That was about 10 years ago and things have changed on the plan which I can't get my head around.

Ive been doing a high protein diet but its SO limited. Lost 2 and half stone in 2 months but can't get back in to it and the weight is creeping back on...

I need a kick up the bum!

Mrs x
