Dinning table etiquette

According to " THE TIMES" families in the Northwest are more likely to eat together and have better table etiquette than the rest of the country.

My question is. Do you ban iPads and phones when sitting down together at the table?

Yes. As a family if we are having a meal together then phones etc aren't allowed at the table

My mother had been known to confiscate

We all sit at the table for dinner in the evening and we all stay there until the last person has finished.

No gadgets or phones allowed at the dinner table in our house.

The Town by The Cross

We all used to sit around the table together . 6 of us. Dog under the table.

No T.V. No phones. Food and talk about the day. Family time.

Still do when the kids come back.

Oh.

Waiting for all to arrive.

Asking for things to be passed across the table.

Making sure all got enough or fair shares.

Helping to clear table

And not leaving until others were finished OR if you HAD to you ASK permission.

We still excuse ourselves if we have to leave the table for any reason.

We rarely sit at the table during the week.. but at weekends yes phones are banned!

We always have dinner together. Definitely no phones allowed. It's one of the only times we are all altogether

95% off the time it's at the table and no technology is allowed and the TV is off. There is no smiling and enjoying yourself either for good measure

Yes a ban anything electronic at the table, I do allow vibrators though as I don't want to put some guest off visiting

I know some people that txt their kids to come down for dinner

I also like the idea of phone stacking whilst eating out

All phones in the middle of the table, and if it rings you pay

The only meal I insist that everyone sits down together with no interruptions is Christmas dinner. My family are grown up and free to do what they want when they eat. Be it, take their food upstairs, eat in the kitchen whilst watching youtube or eating in front of the television. We spend a lot of time not eating and conversing. I don't like to talk when I'm eating; I would rather be left alone to enjoy my food. We are hardly all home at the same time to eat together too.

Talk or open your mouth while food is in it and I'am liable to throw a fork at you

Otherwise do as you please,

When the kids where younger we banned digital babysitters during meals but these days much less so

Still keep your mouth closed while eating, no excuse and I have extra forks to throw, haha

Nothing is ruder than phones and tech at the dinner table. Really annoys me at restaurants when you see parents plug the kids in to some tech rather than include them in the meal.

Silly question, of course when at the dining table it is a time for social interaction between the people sitting there. Reading a newspaper as in the old days or interacting with an electronic device is just bad manners and plain ignorance.

Plus we are lucky as at our house no cell phone signal and of course I switch off the wi-fi during mealtimes. Pisses off the grandkids no end, but at least get a few words out of them.

Phones have a switch, you can turn them off.

You don't have to answer the bloody thing just because it makes a noise.

And unless it's superglue to the palm of your hand, you can put it down.

Relax.

Enjoy the company of the people you are with.

My partner and eat together at the table whenever we're both at home.

We don't ban technology. Perhaps because we both work with tech so we just feel it's a part of our lives. It's not a negative thing in our lives.

Our Dining room table "friend rules" include placing phones in the middle of the table as supper is served. The first one to check anything on there does the clearing up/dishes etc.

If we are out, that's who foots the bill!
