For people that have started using Windows 10, what exactly is new? It was supposed to be a big leap forward but having just installed it this morning it looks like a glorified windows 7 or are there some cool new features?

Keep looking, there are loads of new things

CORTANA doesn't work unless you have installed language packs though

For all I use my laptop for its pointless me wasting the time and hard disk space upgrading. I use 3 programs and they all work sufficiently enough to do what I need.

Windows8 is a bag of shite...... Not uploaded 10 yet but it has to be an improvement....surely?

But in plain English what do they do that is any different? I just read a "20 new features of windows 10" article and they were all 'meh' and 'so what'

I have windows 7 on most of my pc,s, I also have windows vista on a laptop of hardly use

windows 10 is more on the range of collecting private information and serving you with adverts

the other change is both windows 7 and 8 can be used as so many dropped back down to windows 7 as tabbed mode is a pain in the arse to use

Yep good point, you can opt out of it in settings but that is indeed the default setting - thanks for the heads up

Well it has over 100,000 less files in it, and takes about 10gb less disk space. So that probably equates to 200,000 less vulnerabilities to cyber attacks. Not seen any performance differences yet, but cortana wrks as well as a apple and Google offerings.

Thint it depends on your hardware for the main differences to show up, this is a cross between desktop and touch screen and it's quite a hard balance to find really.

That's all well and good but still not hearing any new features? If a new search bar is top of the list then it sounds like a big 'so what'

there are supposed to be more default sharing to microsoft too .. within the settings bit.. something with the ap features and voice data or something. You either have to disable these or opt out, but at least be mindful if you are not going to be using them - Cant remember if there was something with photos or something (I am still on win 7)

if these help its really just another vista where copyright stuff can be deleted or just because you dont own the digital rights to it even if you have paid for it

Loaded up WIN 10 last night and left it on to do its thing.

Woke up to wife asking why I set it to rotate all my porn images right on the desk top view. I have no idea how to shut that feature off and that computer is staying shut down until I do.

Free windows and a free trip to the doghouse. Thanks Microsoft!!!

Edit: Don't make my mistake, keep your private pictures out of My Pictures, no matter how deep you hide them in sub folders. My wife is very happy I admitted my mistake on this sub. She said I took my medicine and she now finds it quite funny. 'Ain't love grand?

I actually tried to upgrade earlier... as it was in the process of installing it went to reboot but had switched my boot order so couldn't find my SSD. When I fixed it my computer boot up and said it had failed to install (I'm guessing because of that).

I'll have another go at some point during the week but if it's going to be an arsehole about it I'm not sure I can be bothered for now.

My install failed because I had 8.1 updates off so I had to do those updates manually first. My Asus laptop isn't compatible for the smart gesture touch pad.

Noone learns the passwords though, its just that devices can login, if allowed.

Changing all the security settings after installation is a 2 minute job.

Overall, it's a faster system than 7 or 8, compared to the same PC running 10. It's much, much more secure too.

Wait for your PC to tell you it's downloaded and asking for permission to install or do your own download and install whenever you want.

Running the same programming across phones, PC etc is also neat.

I was happy with XP, i only moved to vista because Kodi was no longer suppoted with XP, well the newer versions of kodi that is..
