I have 4 chickens and never put eggs in fridge unless for breeding as eggs in fridge freeze the beginning of life, hence if you crack an egg from fridge sometimes you see the red part, and eggs are in shops for weeks

And the 6 egg plastic tray thing in the fridge just takes up valuable space I usually reserve for quail stock and the like. That and the fact I go through 30-40 eggs a week makes it just ridiculous

Nope. Fresh eggs are not supposed to be kept in the fridge. Mine are from my chickens and never see the fridge unless they are boiled

An egg is the only food you will buy that comes complete with air tight protection from bacteria - the shell.

Don't put them in the fridge or they have to cook from a very low temperature.

Silly.

As someone above said.... Only cooked eggs need fridging.

BTW.....Why do they sell those chicken shaped egg baskets if you are supposed to keep eggs in the fridge ?

Just a shady shelf in the kitchen is fine.

Cook from room temperature.

The land of grey peas and bacon

No because when you go to hard boil them straight from the fridge the shell cracks as it hits the hot water..

Just to point out chickens are at there optimum for laying eggs at around age 3 upwards and with eu regulations they all have to be disposed of by that age, so I rescued 4 chickens at 50p each nothing tastier than fresh from garden and the yolks are a lovely sunny yellow

No you're right! The O.P. never said chicken eggs...

We've stumbled into some strange sort of fertility experiment !

No chicken bum action going on here

No though seems to be the right answer. I like the cold-hot contrast in a lot of things (well desserts mainly) but not with cooking eggs.

Also means more room for chocolate in the fridge!

Birmingham - Selly oak

I always put my eggs in the fridge so my fridge doesn't look so bare.

I'm pretty sure I read on some egg packaging to refrigerate. I don't know why it said that because as people above me have said, they're not in a fridge when you buy them.

No need. Dont wash them either as you destroy the protective coating and they will go bad quickly.

I wish eggs still had the little lion datestamp on so you could tell when they were laid. Then you would know how fresh they were.

We do keep eggs in the fridge even knowing that you shouldn't lol. The shell is actually porous so if they are kept near strong smelling food stuffs like onions, they will pick up the taste/smell of them.

you shouldnt keep a cut onion in the fridge un wrapped. They absorb any toxins in the atmosphere. Tho if you still use toxic paint to decorate rooms then putting a cut onion in the room gets rid of them
