Cataract surgery

Going in at 7am in morning. On a Bloody Sunday lol.... Not looking forward to it but got to be done,,, anyone else had it done? And yes I know it's an older persons op. Even the consultant said I was young to have it

Not sure if your doctor has made you aware of this. You will need to decide whether to have better distance vision or reading vision. The intra ocular implant which is inserted after the cataract is removed can give you near perfect vision for one, you will need glasses for the other.

Yesterday at I sold glasses to a customer who had just had cataract surgery, she now needs reading glasses but has perfect distance vision for the first time in her life. She has spent her entire life, and spent thousands of pounds on her glasses. She has had restricted frame choice and ultra thinned lenses due to having a very high complex prescription.

. No I haven't been made aware of that but as I wear vari focals I may have to change my prescription then. Thank you for the advice.x

. Yep. On nhs...... It's an extra waiting list trying to cut down the 18wk waiting list I've had to wit 10wks from pre op to today. Even though I work for nhs,,,lol. No perks

Excellent. Similar stuff going on up here. OP clinics running evenings and weekends too. Glasgow hospitals a bit chaotic at the moment.

Good luck, you will be fine. Have had both mine done. The first at 50 and the other one last year.

20 mins of discomfort but so worth it for the results.

Use the drops you are given, they do give comfort.

I'm still a little light sensitive in bright sunlight so have some wrap round sunglasses to hand if we get any sun.

Cant think what choice I would take as like you I wear varifocals.

Got used to wearing specs really.

My aunt had hers done a couple of years ago. Still getting used to seeing her without glasses. She just needs reading glasses now.
