Washing up.. Which is worse?

The morning after with a bowl full of dishes that have been dried up..

OR

Where they were soaks but the waters gone all manky and cold?

Clearly neither are great options, but im bored and just asking My intention was to do them but i left the kitchen for something before bed just to lock up and then got distracted by the thought of fresh bedding.. went into the kitchen this morning and was just like 'urghh forgot the dishes'

Oh I'm definitely a soaker....then pour the water away and re soak in very hot water....the dishes almost clean themselves.

Definitely soak, you can pour the "manky" water away, plus not as much scrubbing.

OP- I think dried ones are worse. I prefer soaked ones as they clean more easily.

Wouldn't be without mine onto my third one ...saves all the hassle plus ive a Belfast sink so its hard to wash up in that.

Please dont think im some dirty skank for leaving dishes,, i normally do them straight after dinner but been feeling run down and had a slack day

i hate the unknown of mucky water but like others have said by the time its been poured away and hot water is back in the bowl there really is no effort

Cute - I've left dishes plenty of times. Especially if it's been a tiring day.

Even if i had the room for a dishwasher i don't think id ever get one. There are only 2 people in my home. If cleaned up after meals its very little effort to wash up.

Im clearly not tuned into this parenting thing? Your child does chores?! Mine just makes a mess

She is responsible for her bedroom though, but thats WW3 if i suggest she tidies it up

I'm always leaving stuff in the sink & I have a dishwasher!

I'd say dried on bits especially if it's porridge / weetabix or scrambled egg.

Saying that I've come downstairs today to be greeted by bowls swimming around in the fatty grill pan, eeeuuuuw congealed fat, nice!!

(Not my doing I hasten to add)

God sake C n S............. ! Manky water my arse. Here's a tip.

Carrier bag and Kitchen towel or similar. Wipe plates into carrier so all solids are gone. Just wipe not a clean.

Bag in bin.

Soak dishes - sod off n do sommat else.

Get up and get the fish slice or meat fork or any long handled kitchen thingy.

Cos my plug chain is gone.

Push plug out. Rinse dishes under hot water. Wallah !

As someone said above. Dishes wash themselves.

I do have a dish washer but hate stacking the bastard too.

My house is Magic I leave dirty dishes etc anywhere and they disappear and reappear in the cupboard clean

Ah, easy peasy!

£3 per day (other duties included) and they learn how to earn, budget and freedom to buy what they want with their own money. Best bit of all though is they don't realise you still would have taken them to the cinemas perhaps and you have a duty to cloth and feed them even if their did sod all, one of the best cons going and definitely worth £3 a day just for entertainment value alone. Ha! Almost time to click the fingers Mary Poppins style, almost.

I stopped my son from stock pilot washing by putting all my washing is his room

I did the same with the dishes

This is one of areas where we disagreed, so for the sake of marital harmony I bought her a dishwasher as an anniversary present.

Apparently she wanted jewellery instead - you just can't win when you're a man

Haha, no I'am a wash n go person, fill sink before start cooking then a quick wash over each item as it's finished with and then into the dishwasher,

Pre the white box of joy, 100% soak first then wash, and drop dry too leave them to stand on the drainer and dry themselves, nit into towel drying at all

But yay for dishwashers

I don't have a dishwasher.

I've been through various stages of doing/not doing the dishes but since I gave my flat a facelift I appear to be unable to leave dishes in the sink overnight. It wasn't really a conscious decision, it's just sort of happened. I think maybe my flat was just old and tired and needed some improvements and now it looks all nice I think I just don't want a sink full of dirty dishes spoiling it.

Except with me it depends what's been cooked as to whether it's crockery or pans first.
