my first husband was 14 years older than i

i was19 when we married

we used to get a lot of comments as well but it made me very protective of him

we did go our own ways but only after 14 years and at his instigation

i would take a kind heart and warm hands over looks any day xxxxxxxxxx

Its an interesting question and i don't feel frustrated if i am honest but i do wonder a little. I would rather one partner be good looking as its really unpleasant having to look at 2 fuglies.

My boyfriend is 67 so im obviously with him for his money I mean he couldnt possibly be the most wonderful, kind, generous, considerate, intelligent and charming man ive ever met. People find different things in people. Why would it be frustrating what other people do

A very attractive friend i have only dates uglier guys because they treat her better.

Then she was dating a guy who was apparently hot. (How would i know if he was or not). 4/5 months into the relationship he got her best friend pregnant so of course they split. A month further down the line she was out in the town and suddenly got a slap across the face with the offender shouting "Ur pregnant to my husband you slut". My friend is made of hard stuff and soon put her head straight.

Today ; the woman has now obviously divorced, is friends with my friend, and my friend has continued to date only uglier men since this happened - because they treat her better and are less likely to stray.

Think this should go towards answering your query.

i class myself has ok .. not ugly + certainly not hunky..lol

i m somewhere in the middle yet, people dont take a chance on me..

i dunno why - nice guys dont get anywhere in life...

Yes they do!

You have just got to stop worrying about other peoples relationships so much and concentrate on yourself.

Why oh why would it demoralize you that 2 other people are happy in their own relationship, whether or not other people class one of them as "nice looking" and the other one "ugly". They are happy with what they have and it's no-one elses business.

And what kind of "chance" are you expecting them to take on you? Also would you expect them to if you have such a negative attitude to other peoples own relationships?

As usual, just my own wee opinion!

I should have also added to the above for you to try and go up to one of these couples if it bothers you so much and say -

"Hi I think you are gorgeous but your man is ugly, I'm better looking than him so ya wanna swap him for me?"

I would be most interested to hear about the reaction you get from that one!

This seems to be a very superficial attitude to relationships. Good relationships are not built on this.
