Go into the street, proposition the biggest meanest butchiest looking man you can find.

If you're (un)lucky you'll get both eyes done. Slight hints of blue and purple.

Lasts about 10 days.

South East Midlands NOT

I use a rimmel trio for smokey eyes. Black, grey and white. Depends what you're going for as you can do smokey with colours too like plums and dark greens.

You can buy smokey palettes. Higher end of high street would be Benefit, although almost all brands in Boots/Superdrug will have something. Get a liquid/gel liner too to define the upper lid (l'Oreal is decent enough), and a black mascara (Maybelline is good). If you want it to stick and stop smudging, use a lid primer (Urban Decay is good).

Poundshop has good enough make-up. It's only cheap coz the people making it get paid fuck all by their bosses and nothing to do with the quality.

Superdrug do a range of nine colour eyeshadow/highlighter kits that are brilliant. I have 4 of them now. They even have a quick how to guide on the back. The grey/black one of those plus an eyeshadow crayon for a thick upper eyeline, good brushes and lashings of mascara does the trick. I sometimes use purple, red or pink as well in a smokey eye since I have blue eyes. It's the only make-up 'look' I ever truly mastered.
