Anti social media.

Facebook, Twitter, instagram, snapchat Etc etc...

Some people are so hooked and post sp much crap...fake couples on Facebook, snapchats of your mug of coffee, selfie with 5 filters after 25 attempts to get ot right.

Do people meet anymore?

I'm on 27 and when I was young there was a huge green outside our house...Full with kids playing. Looking out at that green this min the sun is shining and green is empty.

Kids even at that age are gone social media crazy with ironically make them anti social.

Adults are worse!

I just watched a video on you tube called "anti social media" I'd recommend anyone to watch it!

People are turning to social media instead of turning to friends to talk and people feel they have to keep up with the neighbours by posting pictures to better theirs or their life.

I was never on anything except Facebook. ..and I just deleted it and will be staying off it and anything else like it...except fab of course lol.

I was off Fb for 1 year before and was honestly more happy.

Life's happiness shouldn't be based on how many likes you get on a photo.

or your shouldn't need to prove to anyone your happy by posting numerous pictures while on a night out.

Put away the phone...and talk and laugh with the person your out with.

Instead of being ignorant trying to boost your own ego by posting pictures and snaps while your out with friends.

Leave down the phone and be more social with your company.

So guys, is social media making us anti social?

Do people agree with me and will anyone join me and delete their social media accounts?

Please watch the video I recommend to get a better idea!

My grandchildren all play out at my eldest daughter's flats. It's away from roads and has a nice little play area that we can see from the window. It's always chock full of children.

I like this post topic, however, I think the format is a bit ranty which, no disrespect is intended, but kind of makes it sound like you're part of the problem with the wording and general writing style.

I agree with your points, people's lives are more in your face nowadays because everything has become "hyper social". As such, a lot of people now feel that they are missing out, because other people are doing things, while they're just sat at home in their pj's sipping tea and watching the world go by (done this many times). It's possibly because of this natural disposition of oneupmanship that leads people to get themselves into debt trying to keep up with the Jones's.

Very interesting topic choice.

Speaking as an adult who uses Facebook I only upload pics of family days so everyone can take what they want. I've taken a few face pics purely to use as a profile pic. Not everyone is social media obsessed,I only have one person out of 130 something on my Facebook who uploads selfies. Lots of people upload pics of their kids, food, days out etc, which is what I like seeing

I live in a flat which has a pretty nice green area but the kids were all banned from playing football out there.

My son was football mad but since they stopped the kids playing any ball games out there, no kids use the area.

He's older now so just stays in his room or loiters on street corners with his hood up looking very dodgy until I walk past & embarrass him

My social circle doesn't use their devices when together and most don't use fb and other crap stuff.

I resent being their asset, to manipulate, sell and exploit.

And I rather prefer the fab way of photos and video restrictions. There's enough clutter in the forums without tons of visual crap.

I despair at the diminishing social connections that people have, whilst they're overworked, poor pay and conditions and our transport networks aren't good. And as technology sucks many of them in.

I have a love/hate relationship with social media.

A lot of it brings me joy. Funny stuff I would never see without a mix it and technology. Additionally twitter is amazing for keeping up to date with developments in my industry.

With that said, when I see a friend of a friends wife telling the world about her child's issues which frankly are really personal, I do despair a little

Yes I know the irony posting it on this but I don't send pictures of my three meals a day to you, tag myself in each bar on a night out etc.

And most importantly I'm writing this on my own on my day off. If I had company I wouldn't be on a phone in front of them....maybe that's my point . People Instead Of Meeting Up Much Anymore Rather Skype Or Text. Go for a walk, a meal Etc.

I have about 5 true friends.

Not 870 like my Facebook suggests.

They have my number and ring or text if needed. ..

why announce something on Fb which is not for everyone's eyes.

Old friendships rekindled!

More like they add you to compare lives and don't talk!

Local events I keep in touch by word of mouth in community over a pint of beer and international events ill see on sky news!

I'm not totally against Fb

just think a bit less of it is nice

So years ago people that had these problems suffered in silence but now they can get it out there hoping someone is listening.

Do you know the first and main step is acknowledgment of your addiction and illness and all your doing is complaining about it!!!!!

I would try and walk past at every opportunity :D

yeah, growing up, we used to have a couple of parks near where we originally lived, then we lived on a quiet culdesac, then we lived on a main road with a mile to the nearest play area (which was usually full of older kids drinking and taking drugs), so I got into gaming. It seemed like the more fun option

If you don't know him why accept his friend request?

For some people social media is literally a lifeline. They're not doing you or anyone else any harm, as you've said you can leave FB and not have to look at it.

If it makes you that unhappy, instead of policing what other people do, close your social media accounts and you'll be much happier

O o O oo

To the OP....I agree. People seem obsessed by their phones and FB. I don't have FB but have seen other peoples and the day I saw a man and wife having a conversation on it with pictures of their dinner that they were chatting about made me realise I really don't want it.

To the people who are not obsessed with it, my comments don't apply to you.
