So sad to here about that wee boy

In barnsley.

I have kids similar age and can't even contemplate how I'd feel in his parents place.

A lot of judging will go on, but the fact is someone's baby's gone

.

Why will people judge?

He was a 7 year old at the park with his friends, that's what 7 year olds do isn't it?

Poor little boy

Menston near Ilkley

Building sites are very tempting to youngster's and it is so very, very important that they are made completely secure when unattended!

My heart goes out to the lad's family and friends.

Facebook is full of derogatory remarks from perfect parents. They should be ashamed of themselves and let the parents grieve in peace

My Facebook is full of the same shit. My middle child is the same age and he plays out at our local park with his friends and older brother. I am kinda glad it is raining here today though, so they are staying at home. Stories like this are so upsetting but kids can't be kept cooped up at home just incase something happens to them. Poor little boy and his poor family

This maybe incorrect but please don't shoot the messenger but I did read the park was two miles away. I don't use facebook but would imagine this might be one of peoples issues

I would imagine that noone knows the full facts and circumstances at the moment. Which is why I find it so sad that the first thing a lot of people feel the need to do is judge and criticise

The best Park for us to go to was about that far away when we were kids

We all used to go to it

And before anyone says it was safer in those days it clearly wasn't......operation yewtree

We were however told that building sites were a no no,but to a 7 year old boy it must have seemed like another playground

I'm assuming he had an accident on the building site at the moment

And probably come back together too? Sadly this little one walked home on his own and as you say on the rest of your post probably used the building site as another playground.

It's true, on the look north BBC website it's full of judgemental folk who miss the main thing....a little un has died, nothing worse in the world than that.

As an 80's child, it always bothers me about how older generations would bang on about it being safer 'back then' as if something suddenly changed. In the same way it pisses me off when people say this country has 'gone to shit'

We did come back together....unless one of us had a strop and stormed off like kids sometimes do,but when you know the area you feel safe and invicible

Can't imagine what his parents must be going through

It is very sad but I can't help but think that letting a 7 year old out on his own, a 20 minute walk from home isn't ideal....

The report I read said 40 minutes but i think that beside the point. The place he was found appears too only be a few streets from his home. I'm also sure I used to travel those sort of distances around that age. ( not directed at you) people should also remember these people have just lost their child and be a bit more sympathetic.
