I need some advice I had a full vaginal hysterectomy four weeks ago...I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies who have had the same could tell me when they felt ok to start having see again,I feel ok but know you have quiet a few internal stitches and I'm bloody horny as hell and feel ready to have set again...xxx

Had mine at 28 was very young 3 weeks after our only child was born was about 12 before full sex best thing that as happened to me we only wanted one child.

Plus my pussy is very tight and get told often they can not believe how tight i am

I didn't have a regular partner when I had mine about 18 months ago. I also felt incredibly horny after a few weeks but wonder if it was down to being in so much pain before. I didn't have a regular partner at the time and it was almost 6 months before I had full sex. Although it feels different sex is great now.

I think I was advised 8 weeks before sex but I'd check with your GP.

Very little advice or after care in my personal experience. Don't get me wrong as the op has been a huge success for me. However, the successful aftercare was mostly down to a mum who had been through it previously and my GP.

mrs had hers 15 years ago i think it was about 8 weeks before we had sex again.

Wouldn't have thought while stitches in situ it's advised but like has been said I'd ring and ask your surgeon. Some don't say but will if you ask, but ask surgeon not GP

Did you leave the cervix or have that taken too? That may affect things more than the fact it was a vaginal hysterectomy.

I was told 8 weeks but as I was celibate at the time I didn't bother with any of advice I was given at the time.

Unless it's different in different parts of the country, you're discharged to the care of your GP and no longer the concern of the surgeon. This is purely based on personal experience of having had a hysterectomy courtesy of the NHS and having had similar questions.

Thankyou for your replys,wasn't given any advise apart from taking it easy for next few weeks...I had everything taken cervix,ovaries,womb and fallopian tunes....have a follow up app first week of Sept with my surgeon so that's not for another 4-5 weeks just getting very horny and impatient especially when I feel ok...xx

I didn't have a follow up after mine. As you do, then try contacting the surgeon or their team first as you should get a response and they know your specific details. There's some good but generic advice on the NHS and Royal Institute of Gynaecologists websites too.

You will need to wait until your scar has healed before you start to have sex again. This will take between four and six weeks. How comfortable you feel about sex after a hysterectomy and when you feel ready will vary for every woman. You may feel more sexual pleasure because the problem that meant you had to have a hysterectomy has now gone. However, some women feel a sense of loss after a hysterectomy and may find their libido (sex drive) is reduced.

I had everything taken too. My follow-up included a scan and they asked me if I had resumed having sex. As I was celibate it didn't really apply but they did ask me.

They didn't want to take my cervix as they said it may affect my sexual pleasure. It wasn't a consideration for me them but now I have to say that it hasn't.
