Love hurts - your first rejection

Anyone remember the first time they had their hearts broken or their hopes dashed and how that felt?

For me it must have been as an adolescent 13 or 14 year old. I went through a little phase of acne as a hormonal pubescent teen and I remember overhearing the hot girl I really fancied giving ratings to a group of my mates as we all walked past.

I could hear 'not bad', 'very nice', 'definitely' as my mates passed then an 'ugh' as I walked by.

I pretended not to hear but that was like a dagger in my back at the time.. Love could be so cruel! From anyone else I wouldn't have minded so much - but this was the girl I really liked

How did you first realise that love hurts .. would be great to hear your stories

little house on the praire

When I was about 12 I was down the park with a lad I fancied and he asked me out, I was sell chuffed, we walked home together and when we got to the top of my street he said he didn't want to go out with me anymore. It lasted in total about 10 minutes

She was a gorgeous brunette, 5'4", curves in all the right places, olive skin, she slinked around and gave those looks that confirmed that indeed butter wouldn't melt. I was in love, hook line and sinker, I'd stare at her all day - daydreaming of running through meadows and holding hands...

It wasn't until my mother returned from the parents evening that i realised there was no hope. I was told my attention span was very short and that if i didn't stop trying to pinch her bum my P5 teacher would have no option but to remove me from her class!!

I wonder whatever happened to her; my first (unrequited) love!

I was 9... Danny next door. I wrote him a Valentine's card and made him a present made from toilet roll tubes.. I woke up the next day to find it thrown over the hedge into my garden. I cried for a week

The Four Corners

from the age of 12 id liked this one girl consistently.. but could never work up the courage to go say anything, as years passed chemistry grew but i moved.

We stayed in rough contact and saw each other every year at the fireworks where the hopes and dreams of mine would go up with the fireworks...

ANNNYWAY i was at college one day recieved a text... saying i really like you do you like me... i thought well what would it hurt to tell the truth...

I replied... of course i do i always have...

turned out it was her friend messaging me on her phone just randomly playing about... got majorly awkward after that..

Thats not the end...no no for i was a determined little blighter... another two years went with seeing each other and so forth, putting the past behind us, and i finally asked her when i went to see her.... she said i wish you'd have said before i like this other guy now and i see you more of a friend but if you had asked me a few months ago i would have said yes.

Needless to say it stung.

The first time I really felt like my heart was breaking properly was with my ex.

We split up & I thought at first it was for the best but the next day I was in absolute bits. Spent the day at work crying on a managers shoulder.

We got back together two days later & the funny thing is I ended our relationship 14yrs later & no tears were cried that time!!

Chams or Socials

It was Feb 1993, I was nearly 17, we'd been together 7 months. I lost my virginity to him & he met someone else when I went to visit my mum. 6 weeks later we got back together.

Fast forward 19 years, he cheated on me again so I divorced him, kept the house & our 2 sons.

Never been happier

My first heart break was last year, Boxing Day in fact. And I don't mind admitting I still feel like the bottom has fallen out of my world.

I met a girl of 20 in January 2011, it was lust at first sight. Within 3 weeks she was living with me, I just KNEW she was the one. 4 extremely happy years including several stints on here and then I had my world shattered. I've had longer relationships but when they ended I didn't give a dam, I wasn't in love, but this time, WOW. I still love her like crazy, never see her, hear from her, have no hope of getting her back she lives with her new love, but she has left a place in my heart I can't see me ever filling.

She was my soul mate and best friend. As for love, you can keep love now! If this is how bad it hurts when it ends I'm never risking it again because it's not even funny!!!

My heart didn't break,it was gripped tightly and slowly squeezed until all feelings for him were gone.

When I was five... Had my first and only boyfriend. I had a week off school due to chicken pox, came back to school to find out that he had been kissing two other girls under his coat in the playground while I was off

I can remember mine and I often used to stare through her window thinking why me.. Then the restraining order kicked in

But all silliness asides it did happen (not the window looking and restraining order) and its not a nice feeling but from these things we grow as people. We are friends still as it worked out we ended up at the same company for a while.

Oh my god that's so sad! ... Kids are thoughtless and cruel, I hope they remember doing that and cringe at their behaviour ....

Worst heart break of mine was when she asked if she didn't sometimes , taste funny....after you realise she meant, don't I sometimes taste of the joc down the hall.

The thing that breaks my heart now is the image of an ex sobbing on the bathroom floor after I told her I couldn't see her anymore. .... I'd take that back for anything... Infact I'd give anything for that image not to pop into my head ever again
