Recommend a feel good film

The weather here is horrid. It's pouring down! If it doesn't improve I need a good film to watch later on.

For a chick flick there's loads I'd recommend but for now I'll go with

- In Her Shoes.

The family film I like at the mo is Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

What's your feel good film when it's horrid outside.

Just East of Wakefield

'Beverley Hill-Billies'

You simply get the feeling that they had so much fun making it, & the bloopers at the end

Diedrich Bader playing Jethro & Jethrina, with Rob Schneider giggling at the snorting....

Smokey & The Bandit (first one)

Again, just so much fun

Waynes World?

Mike (Shrek) Myers as Wayne, & the babelicious Tia Carrera

Again, just good fun!!!

Granted, none of the films are mentally stimulating, but a chuckle on a wet afternoon

American Grafitti????

The first (proper) George Lucas film

Harrison Fords first real role (driving the black '55)

Richard Dreyfuss (looking very young)

Charles Martin Smith (Untouchables)

And of course, Wolfman Jack, playing that great music

Oh!!, & some beautiful cars

THX1138 was a proper film and if you check out the plate on the 32 coupe, guess what it is?....if you want an indication of how important the film is to lucas, he named his sound technology systems THX, partly in homage to the film that launched his career and essentially paved the way for him to finally shoot Star Wars

As for the original OP- a bit of a curve ball that fell under the radar for most people- 'Best Man Down'.

Everyone I've recommended it to has came back and said its brilliant (most of them ended up in tears too)

A lot of great films mentioned, I shall have to look up some of the others.

Noone has mentioned Bill and Ted yet with a young keanu Reeves, nor indeed any Mel Brooks film (dead and loving it, Robin hood, men in tights, and blazing saddles are excellent for feel good). Also, if you're into anime, my neighbour totoro and kiki's delivery service from studio ghibli

Yes, l know about the licence plate on (Paul LeMat) Jon Milners '32 Coupe, & its significance

I meant first 'proper' film, with regard to budget, cast, promotion & sheer 'size' of the production

Still one of my favourite films, since l first saw it about 1985

Did you know that the black '55 that Harrison Ford drives was also used in 'Two LaneBlacktop' (starring Dennis Wilson, JamesTaylor & Warren Oates)

Plus, the '49 Mercury coupe driven by The Pharoahs gang in Grafitti is (or was, anyway) owned by Brian Setzer of The Stray Cats, & appeared in several of their music videos

Fareham

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World - a great old classic, hilarious and with big names of the 50s.

Robin Hood - Men in Tights - another rib tickler

Dumb and Dumber - so ridiculous you just HAVE to laugh. The line about the Rocky Mountains is my favourite
