For a moment there i was thinking that best mates are always the same sex.

But is that correct, is your best mate the same sex or other?

My 2 best mates i've known for 29 years, one of them our parents met in Ireland and discovered we lived in the same town, the other ( female) was a result of our grandpanrets both working in the Vat 69 factory in the town, also Irish.

Definitely female had some great male friends but always been the one trustable to confide in, and best mate early teens onwards was female, don't see her much these days but know either could pick up a phone if needed

Definetly the opposite sex for me ... Got quite a few guys I can talk to about anything and one that I can confide in completely but sadly find women too gossipy and bitchy to share secrets with
