"What you recon to the new program on ch5 about a 87st man?."

This question will be easier to answer after the show has been broadcast.

Why would anyone watch such drivel. Its not television its abuse as this person is in deep trauma and needs help and assistance without the nation viewing it?

What I honestly don't understand is when people are suicidal or something they can be sectioned for their own safety.

How when people get to the state where they can't get out of bed at all and so people must be bringing them food can the same not be done? Overeating to that point is mental illness without a doubt. Surely more serious intervention is needed to stop people getting to that point?

It sounds a tragic tale. But typical of much of the tv filth that channel 5 etc push out. I find it degrading to others and our society. Won't watch.

I would guess it's because as long as the person is deemed to have mental capacity, then they can eat as much as they like and become as fat as they like

Secret eaters was funny.

"I've got low metabolism my doctor says so I barely eat 2000 calories a day"

....after the survailence /private investigators follow them for a week....

"So you eat on average 4500 calories a day...."

"Oh..."

The chap who was Britains largest man died recently. The local pizza place had their own front door key to his house for their daily visits. There is something Very sad about that.

I've enjoyed Secret Eaters, as it does reveal some of the psychology at work, behind people who're overeating.

Otherwise, there is a programme on BBC3, at the same time as this show, investigating why disability hate crime is on the increase. A far worthier show than Channel 5's shows about the obese.

Do people often pick their tv entertainment on its ethical worth?
