I've dated quite a few. They seemed nice enough, except for one who was really weird about kids. Wouldn't look at any pics or talk about them just in case someone assumed he was a paedophile, sorta made it seem more likely that he was one.

I'd say some just find it hard to turn the stress off when they come home. They never really leave work as there's always the next day to plan and marking to be done. They don't get a ton of free time like so many seem to think, they end up doing loads after hours and weekend at home when the "normal" job lot who think they do are kicking back!

things have changed a lot, not saying there aren't bullies out there but think of it another way, have you ever tried to keep a class of 25-35 average kids under control, on your own with no assistance? Or worse, a bunch of low attainers whose families are anti-teacher? It's not an easy job, kids know they have more rights than teachers these days and use that to their advantage.

I am so glad that i dont have a teacher for a partner.

We were talking abour PC the other day. I remember Camp coffee where the Indian soldier was serving his white superior officer his coffee. Thankfully that has changed. Like everyone else, as a child i had gollywog bafes from Robertson's.

My better half, is on a first aid course and i asked how to burst a blood blister. Trouble was i didnt know the correct name so i used the old term - a black mans pinch.

Now i dread to think what the finger and the look would be like. Maybe i would gwt six of the best

nope! I had a job that was 24x7 but made time for the relationship we "shared". Somehow I managed my stress, workload etc, and still supported her through her issues. Felt more like being dumped on with her work stress than sharing tbh, but when I was under threat of redundancy she didn't give a damn even though we'd not have enough income to pay the bills never mind eat, she just continued unloading her stuff. Quite the opposite. Maybe i havent explained myself properly. I am glad that things have moved on, the inbuilt racism i was exposed to as a child is no longer acceptable. I remember the "no blacks, no irish, no kids" signs. They were bad times

the OP was asking a question about those who've had a relationship with a teacher, seems I'm the only one replying who actually has and I can get his POV in some ways. I simply related my experiences.

In fact she and I remain friends, yes I'm happier since we split, but recalling that part of my life did remind me of some of the less than good times. The rollercoaster ride I had with work/redundancy etc was something I carried on my own while also carrying her stress, daily.

It takes 2 in a relationship, if it's all one way then eventually things break, for us that's exactly what happened. She's realised her job was a major part in what happened between us.

Maybe she couldn;t be bothered to support you as your previous post made it clear you resented supporting her?

Clearly you are happier without her so why show such spite towards her?

the OP was asking a question about those who've had a relationship with a teacher, seems I'm the only one replying who actually has and I can get his POV in some ways.

She's realised her job was a major part in what happened between us."

Or possibly you're the only one on here prepared to talk about your relationship.

"Those awful teachers. I know, let's all teach our own kids to read and write that'll show 'em

wot?

I sent my boys to school able to read, write and know their numbers. The teachers complained because i taught them by rote and not by using their techniques.

That isn't fair it's always good to see an involved parent.

Are you happy overall with the education your children have received though or do you feel you could have done better yourself all round? "

A difficult question because i realise that the world has changed so much. For much of the time i was supporting both my own family and my extended one which meant i had to work abroad. This meant that i did not have the means to home teach.

I was continually in conflict with teachers and parents evenings were a challenge for them as well as us.

Overall, i was happy with the result but very unhappy about the process and had to bring in external tutors to make up for their shortfalls

That's the problem with a one size fits all educational system, it simply doesn't fit all. In a world where we need to work to earn a living we can't realistically home school our kids either so I suppose we have to make the best of what we have and if we can or need to back it up as you did.

yep, comprehensive system is a failure, the yanks that we copied it from figured that out ages ago but good ole blighty clings on determinedly, certain that it can make it work. Oh well

It can and does work but I won't deny that it fails many. That isn't down to the teachers though. Don't get me started on further education.....but that isn't what this thread is about.

"Wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me going out with a school teacher , there very difficult ??

They have plenty of time on their hands at the moment ..."

Yeah like things just appear into he classroom, resources made, and all the planning with the new curriculum overnight .... I don't think so somehow.

"I'd say some just find it hard to turn the stress off when they come home. They never really leave work as there's always the next day to plan and marking to be done. They don't get a ton of free time like so many seem to think, they end up doing loads after hours and weekend at home when the "normal" job lot who think they do are kicking back!"

Thank you, Dave, someone who has experienced teachers working twelve hour days plus, and that is in the so called holidays.

It's very easy to assume that teachers arrive at nine, leave at three and all those lessons just spring fully formed from their head

"I am so glad that i dont have a teacher for a partner.

You do know that it;s not just teachers that find your outdated terminology at best a little crass and are greatful that society as a whole has moved on somewhat from the 'good old days' when you could offend who you wanted?

Quite the opposite. Maybe i havent explained myself properly. I am glad that things have moved on, the inbuilt racism i was exposed to as a child is no longer acceptable. I remember the "no blacks, no irish, no kids" signs. They were bad times"

You don't have to remember those signs, they are still alive and well on some of the fab profiles ....

Some people find your attempts to tell people how they should and should not speal to be equally "crass" and also a bit arrogant

"Wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me going out with a school teacher , there very difficult ??

I work in a school and virtually all of the teachers are not up themselves. They work bloody hard to educate students and have a calm working environment. Some of the students are hard work but they succeed quite highly. I'm not a teacher and nor would I want to be

Yes your not a teacher and have neither lived with with one !! "

Some children are little shits to try to teach. I see how they behave in school and out of school too, all ages not just secondary.

I never said I didnt live with one and my friend is a LSA and tells me how difficult it is. She gets put upon quite a lot to run the class sometimes when the teacher has other things to do to prepare for a lesson or other educational activities.
