Menston near Ilkley

David Cameron has announced publicly that he intends to destroy Is is and it's caliphate.

Would we not be better just doing it rather than inviting attacks?

Beats me why someone would want to destroy something they helped create in the first place. Still its good for the arms industry, makes him look tough, makes people anxious about terrorism and facilitates bringing in even more laws to take away your freedoms.

Of course he is talking BS. No one will ever destroy these groups. In fact that sort of talk will only serve to add to their numbers.

"Well if anything is going to cause terrorism here on our own soil it's breastfeeding beating like that. "

Maybe that`s the plan, people are easier to control when they fear.

Even if he did , another group would form somewhere else. Unfortunately, extremism is here to stay.

There is neither the will nor the military capacity for us to do such a thing. The recent armed interventions created the vacuum which IS has filled. This is an intractable problem. The West cannot solve it. Cameron is full of declarative outbursts. Short on the ability or wish to act. Along with the Blair legacy he will take us into the arms of Big State centralisation. Hello EU.

The only way we'll even remotely prevent another extremist group rising up in their place is if we take the gloves off, forget the Geneva convention and get as brutal with them as they are with us. That won't happen though and the Islamic extremists are here to stay.

They have shown that they are willing to take on the world. The world as one needs to take them on. Give them no place to hide and regroup.

Worked well the last time, right?

Not really but they achieved their goal peacefully by forming the EUROPEAN UNION

He couldn't clear an illegal traveller's camp, let alone destroy IS

He is a man with a catapult. For these kind of things, one needs properly equipped forces. Like the Americans do and even they would find it difficult dealing with IS

Titz Towers, North Notts

We've not got a good track record of sorting anything out in that area, even before Sykes-Picot.

"terrorism" is thousands of years old and has eluded some of the most clever people in history, what chance has a berk like Cameron got?

"You can't destroy an ideology."

Ideas are bullet proof...

And our own actions in the Gulf (way, way before the Iraq war, back to the 19th century, are in large part responsible for this mess).
