According the a programme early on tonite...The government wanna start taxing junk food to help with obesity levels.

Apparantly denmark or somewhere over that way have already done it.

And have seen big changes ?

Do you think this measure would help or is it just another ploy to tax the poorest families ?

Up North :-)

I kind of think taxing any food is a no no to be honest. And its not a clear line with what is healthy and what is junk! How many bureaucrats will they have to employ to make a list

Sumo wrestlers eat a stew called Chankonabe.

It's quite a healthy dish based on chicken, fish and vegetables.

However, its the amount of this stew that the wrestlers consume that piles the weight on.

So the way I see it, if obese people are less able to afford to stuff themselves with Mac & Don's, KFC, chocolate, cakes etc, they'll probably just do it with healthier food instead causing similar results.

In short junk food is O.K in moderation but we all know that the majority of obese people have difficulty eating in moderation. R

a home made and cooked burger etc will always be healthyer and cheaper than the fast food equal, hovever a tax wouldnt change peoples lazyness, many dont know or want to know how to cook, far less effort to buy.

its the attitude to junk food that needs to change, what happened to a 3 meals a day healthy diet, everything in moderation.

burgers etc are fine just not everyday, and have you seen the 10 year old mcd burger, just google and you will never eat there again!!!!!

i think it is a great idea to tax fast food. but only if the revenue goes to hospitals, where the obese are treated.

but on the other hand.why not make fruit and veg tax free ?

Could we not have a tax on hot air and then we might have better politicians.
