It's been mentioned before, but I feel it needs reiterating.

Writing disclaimers like "you do not have permission to use my photos" and other variations on your profiles is absolutely pointless.

For one thing, I've noticed a lot of people copy and paste a disclaimer that refers to Article 8 of the ECHR, the right to privacy. That piece of legislation binds public bodies, not private individuals looking to nick your photos. So it makes no sense to refer to it.

Others have clearly taken their disclaimers from an American source, because it refers to the uniform commercial code (UCC)! Again, it has absolutely no relevance in this context, or this jurisdiction!

Lastly, in anything other than revenge porn scenarios, you have little basis to launch any sort of claim against the people that distribute your photos elsewhere. In fact, the closest you could get to a legal claim would be against the people that operate this site, a claim which would take the form of a breach of confidence. Even that would be shaky at best.

Bottom line is, don't just waste space on on your profile page with those pointless disclaimers!

Brighton - even Hove!

I have a sneaking suspicion, nay, strong indications that someone or someone's have printed off my pics and wanked over them.

The UCC isn't even binding law (unless incorporated into a judicial decision)...it is just written by legal scholars and academics in the US as to what they believe the state of the law is/should be.

But I think it is very helpful, actually. Those disclaimers help me out lots of people I probably wouldn't want to meet anyway. Or, at least, they are a good signpost.

In my defence you did look so cute as a sheep.
