The Council of Elrond

With her inter_iew today has she just put the final nail in the coffin for Labour by saying they wont vote against welfare and is backing scrapping tax credits for more than two children?

King's Crustacean

Depends.

Are there more benefit recipients with 2 children or more people FED up of paying for people to keep having children??

Brighton - even Hove!

Labour is a mess at the moment and I imagine it will take a few years for them to be a viable party again.

Maybe they realise that the current welfare state is at an unsustainable level?

Or its that they haven't got a clue how to back out of the shit we're in.

The two kids rule is (initially) for new claimants. Maybe HH is banking on punters having short memories.

Will the 2 children rule make people more responsible or fuel a rise in abortion clinics ?

No. 9 out of 10 families with children receive tax credits under the current system. That's ludicrous. More targeted support towards those who really need it would be a better policy for the Labour Party to adopt than continuing what's in place at the moment.

If the National Minimum Wage had been raised steadily the number of families getting WTC would be fewer and the bill smaller (not always a direct correlation).
