Random topic.

Just interested to know if our neighbours across the water watch it?

If so, what do you think?

If you haven't, consult YouTube.

Incredibly skilled sport, played by tough nuts.

North London

Mr Cantilevered played hurling in his youth. Very skilful game. Often regarded as the fasted field ball game in the world, newcomers to the sport are frequently deceived by the phenomenal pace and sheer physicality of the game into thinking of it as uncontrolled and dangerous. In reality, it's a game of extraordinary finesse and athleticism and at its best, one of the greatest games on earth. If you want to see a masterclass, have a look at the All Ireland Final 2014 between Tipperary and Kilkenny.

I once watched a game about 5 yards from the sideline & I was ducking & diving every time the play came near me, - it was terrifying .................. & there was a ten feet steel fence between myself & the play!!

I've played both codes of rugby but the speed & fierceness of hurling takes the biscuit, - it's brutal!!

How do the sport & the health & safety mob coexist, Boldgirl?

Lol, I have no idea. Health and safety doesn't seem to be an issue

I'm fully convinced that you have to be a little unhinged to want to play. It's carnage and absolutely epic to watch.

Can you believe these guys play for absolutely no money?!

I'd heard of it but never seen it until relatively recently. Came across it on Sky and watched through to the end. Very enjoyable.

Not sure I'd go out of my way to watch a game but if I came across it again when channel hopping I'd stop and watch it, but bearing in mind I'd sit and watch most sports (only rugby and showjumping get the instant turn over treatment)that might not be saying much.

Hurling in Mayo?? Not in my lifetime. We only play the big ball. Lol.

I asked the Local pub to show the Clare v Waterford match on Saturday, i loved watching the excited faces of the people who had never seen it before, they were amazed at the skill levels.

More of a Willie-joe Padden fan myself. Lol.

Just because we're shite at hurling in Mayo, we can still appreciate it.

"It must be a frightening g experience for new comers to the game to see it but imagine being on the side line trying to manage a team in a close crunch game the Adeline pumping trough ur veins as ur local club strive to get to the next round a simple slip or or block can change the whole game in milliseconds

Totally exhausting, trilling, eurphoic, highs to lows, so many other expletives that can be used

The fastest field game in the world I love it

And limerick weren't robbed they handed it to Dublin u need the killer instinct "

After 12 pints of Guinness, I'm a fairly proficient hurler. I manage to get it all into the chunder bucket without getting any down my shirt front.
