I'm in the middle of watching my dad first sight which 2 strangers meet up at a wedding altar to get married. Without seeing each other talking to each other and know nothing about each other just wondering would you do this I'm thinking now but I don't know if I would do its a weird 1 hmmmm.

I'd never do something like that. Marriage is a special sacred thing. You're creating a bond that's supposed to last a lifetime. It would devalue the meaning of it all in my opinion...

I'm watching this too. I really can't believe these seemingly normal people signed up for this...

Is this a 'true' documentary (I'm not watching it, obviously)?

Putting two randomers together and expecting them to have lasting happiness is a tall order but arranged marriages happen in many cultures so who knows?

Given the divorce rate in this country can it be any worse than marrying a long term partner?

I didn't watch it but read about it - to be honest sounds like a desperate attempt at a 'new concept' tv programme.

You can imagine some pony-tailed 'creative' type bouncing around on a space hopper in some marketing agency somewhere trying to come up with radical new ideas and some people so desperate for their 5 minutes of fame that they'd marry a stranger to get on TV and hopefully secure a deal with OK or Hello and become the latest celebrity 'non-celebrity' (think Jade Goody / Chantelle Houghton etc).

Pretty desperate stuff by sounds of it ...

Surely it's not legal because of having to give notice to the registrar etc.?

They'd probably have grounds for annulment when it goes tits up though.

It is all legal they gave notice at Westminster City hall they live together for 5 weeks after the marriage and decide if they want to carry on with the marriage if not they can get divorced, I doubt they would be able to get it annulled as they might consummate the marriage.

But when I gave notice I had to answer questions about my husband, prove I knew who he was! How did that bit work?

Depends, I know someone who managed to get hers annulled for non-consummation after 3 years living together

Is there money involved ?

It's a programme on TV so has to be some sort of incentive ?

People do strange things when money involved

Me personally I think I would - being on fab has given me such confidence compared to what I was
